Guff collaborates with Steve Perry of Journey

Looks like Journey is popping up in more places than just incredibly frustrating finales. The band's singer Steve Perry has apparently collaborated on some songs with Go Kart act Guff. Their label explained:

While Guff was in the studio, Steve Perry, the legendary lead singer of Journey, walked in to visit a friend. He was so impressed with Guff that he showed up unannounced two days later and asked Guff to cover an unreleased Journey song. Steve not only produced the song "I Can See It In Your Eyes" but also sang on it!

The cover will appear on the band's upcoming album. The record is titled Symphony Of Voices and is due out June 26, 2007.

The Soprano's ending wasn't nearly as bad as everyone makes it out to be. Pete died. AJ was happy. Meadow was gonna be making good money. Everything was ok. It's not a show where is a definite ending. Good for Chase leaving it open ended.

i think a movie would totally ruin the whole series because what else is there to happen, the only thing i can think of is Tony being indicted and i don't think that would make a really interesting movie. and seeing that phil was taken out with the permission of New York, Tony isn't in any real danger of being whacked. the way it ended was good because it wasn't predictable.

As a fellow Sox fan weren't you a little embarrassed by the whole "don't stop believing" thing that went on in '05? Luckily I'm not actually in Chicago, so I was mostly able to avoid being swept up in that shit, but my friends still make fun of it. Every time I lament the bullpen/lack of hitting/everything else that's going wrong this season they drop the whole don't stop beleeeeving, hold on to those feelings line. It's the worst.

Actually, how cool is that for Guff? I'm not even a Journey fan but to have Perry just go, "you're really good, here let me sing on your album". That's tight.

Of course if the song sucks you're totally boned, because you can't be like, "Sorry Steve Perry, but you're song is totally not making our album".

Am I the only one who took the finale to mean that Tony died? I mean, I know it wasn't crystal clear but I thought it was done for a couple of reasons:
1) In a show filled with some crazy deaths, it's a great juxtaposition to have the lead killed so unceremoniously.
2) Haven't they mentioned a number of times that when it's "your time" you never hear or see it coming?
Of course I don't know for sure, so it could have just been left wide open.

i'm with you on the tony dying theory. episode one of this season had a scene with tony and bobby talking about when death comes everything just goes black. plus, that scene had several people who looked like previous threats to tony and the jersey mob. and the man walking to the bathroom was an homage to the first godfather when al pacino kills the head of the jersey family and the dirty cop.

but, that's just my take on the whole thing.

I agree. At first I thought it was supposed to be up to the viewer to decide, but now I think he got whacked. It just makes a ton of sense, when you think of the rest of the show and David Chase. And if Tony has to die, that's an awesome way to do it. You wouldn't want another Baccala-style toy-train-like scene, because they just did that. And this way it was like the viewer got whacked, and gets to experience what that is like, with it coming out of nowhere and in the middle of the song. And you don't know whether Carlo is a rat, etc., because that's the way it happens in real life. You don't die only after things are neatly wrapped up. There are loose ends. I think it was perfect.

OK, I know I am an anonymous poster, but new rules for punknews.org concerning spoiler alerts: USE THEM. I saw The Sopranos, but other things have been spoiled for me here before, and it's a pain in the ass. People on most other websites use them, it's just a common courtesy.

No. I really don’t get it. I downloaded Guff’s "Engine Trouble" back when Go Kart offered it for free.
I gave it a few spins since and find it to be just totally boring. Plus it’s produced in your everyday lame pop punk band fashion, so that doesn’t help either.

The Sopranos finale was brilliant! I don't give a fuck what anyone says. Most people bitch about all series finales anyways. I remember the backlash on the final Seinfeld episode and I thought that was clever also. These shows are to entertain & if these whiny cunts think they can do better, they should write their own fucking shows. I don't know what ending these bitchy people wanted but I've watched the episode 3 times & I liked it more every time I saw it. Tony's final scene with Paulie was hilarious the way Tony can still work Paulie. The Sopranos was a well written show & not many other shows even come close to it. If you didn't like the finale I say you're fucked & you probably missed all the details in every episode of its run and should stick to According to Jim or something of the sort.

LOL -- these anti-Journey rants are hilarious. That band played everything -- punk, blues, rock, hard rock, ballads, you name it. Their hits were mainstream, but the band was seriously gifted and formed from Santana members. Moreover, Steve Perry is undeniably one of the most skilled singers ever to walk the planet. You may not care for what they did, but to say they "suck" is simply moronic, reactionary childishness.

Clue: The fact that a living legend likes Guff and got involved with them is a big boost to the band. Perry sold more of his worst effort than Guff will likely sell in its lifespan. Be happy for the attention and go cry about something meaningful.
