As of this past weekend Build A Nation, the new album from hardcore pioneers Bad Brains is streaming in its entirety via MySpace. The long-awaited album finally hits stores tomorrow on Megaforce Records.

Again just saying "its true" doesn't necessarily make it so. There is a possibility that it did leak, but its pretty fucking stupid to rush out on a message board and say things like "it leaked and zmog!!! it suxx!!!" and not expect people to call you on it.

Well, its going to be hard to live up to the hype the album has gotten (on this site at least).

But, it took me a while to get into Searching for A Former Clarity. So even if someone I don't know doesn't like it, I still want to buy it because I appreciate what the band does (not to mention the crap they go through).

Wow...what happened to the band that put out Rock For Light? This is awful if you ask me. The punk is uninspired and the reggae even moreso -at least they came up with their own mediocre punk riffs, i've heard most of these recycled reggae riffs 10 times each. They've got one day until their legacy is effectively shit upon.

You can find most of those exact same basslines all throughout reggae music, especially late 80s electronic reggae. If you didnt immediately recognize them then you are the one who doesnt know anything about reggae music, not me. So stop embarassing yourself. Reggae is one of my favorite genres so I happen to know a lot about it, if you don't then it's cool because everyone has different tastes, but what I'm saying is true.

So no, I was not grasping at that phrase you speak of, I meant what I said and what I said is accurate.

And you're also saying that music is a formless asthetic? Now you have really lost your mind.

as someone over the age of 25 who got to see the bad brains before they went downhill, i'm not too stoked on this record. some of the music is pretty awesome, but the vocals ruin it for me. maybe it's just the vocalist. i can mostly separate musicians from the music, but hr has done a lot to tarnish the legacy of this band. besides his erratic behavior, his sketchy religious ideals are something that shouldn't be excused in the "punk" climate today.

that said, "quickness" and everything before that deserves all the acclaim and reverance that they get. however, just because you're groundbreaking at one point doesn't make you automatically relevant today.

however, the newest albums by the buzzcocks, the accused and mission of burma are pretty good. it just depends on the band.

OK sure this new Bad Brains isn't Rock For Light or At The Movies quality but come on, it's pretty damn cool. At first listen I was like hm, this isn't so hot but after a couple more listens the music rips. HR's vocals are different and take some getting used to when your expecting Pay To Cum. The reggae stuff is good as well minus one song. For the youngsters out there, you are more then entitled to talk shit on the band and some of what you say is true but so many of you guys have absolutely no roots at all which is to bad. You should go all the way back to the Stooges then Ramones era and then 80's hardcore and go from there. At least check out some of the roots of bands that are around today.

All criticisms aside...this IS still the best Bad Brains album in over 20 years AND it sounds a hell of a lot like "I Against I". If you hate that album then you'll probably hate this one....I for one loved that album and I think this one is pretty damn cool too (despite HR's lack of aggression).
