White Stripes cancel Fall Tour, citing Meg White’s “acute anxiety”

The White Stripes have cancelled several dates on their tour due to "acute anxiety." The band, who continue to support Icky Thump, will not be appearing on shows scheduled from September 13 through October 10th.

The band's upcoming UK tour is set to go on as scheduled.

Anxiety? Really? After like, eight years of being on the road? She must have been on some fucked up drugs or under hypnosis that made her unaware that she was on tour or even in a band, and now, those drugs have worn off.

Who's to say that "being on the road" is the cause of her anxiety? Maybe her mom died recently or something, or a close friend.

My guess was that her anxiety was caused by a constant berating from Jack. Dude has anger issues.

They're saving their fans some money. I saw them right after "Elephant" came out in a rare club show, and they were horrible.

God, this is awful. Too bad there's no other drummer on earth that could replicate her insane beats. Seriously, a true tragedy that no one could match Meg White's chops.

everyone knocks her drumming, and while it's nothing to write home about, it matches perfectly with the type of music the white stripes play. there's no need for something anymore than a primal beat.

ha. typical punknews kid not knowing what he's talking about defense. attack when not having a decent answer.

but seriously, the white stripes play primal blues based music, all of which is based on simple rhythms, there's no reason to even have a drummer that plays well in the conventional sense. i'm not saying she's one of the best drummers of all time because she's not, but within the confines of the band's music, she works.
