Media: Constantines studio vignette

The Constantines are in the studio recording their debut for Toronto based Arts & Crafts, and the label has put a vignette online showing some of the progress. Headlined "Kissing WIth Braces" the video features an instrumental track and footage of the band recording the follow up to 2005's Tournament of Hearts.

The band is recording with Jeff McMurrich again in the engineer's chair. The record is expected in March and should include songs like "Million Star Hotel," "Hard Feelings" and "Time Can Be Overcome."

Funny, I just watched this earlier today - I hadn't checked their site for a while.

On the subject of the Constantines, had anyone heard Bryan & Doug's previous band, emocore outfit Shoulder? There's a wikipedia page on them with a link to some old mp3s - that's definitely Bry singing. So the Constantines have their punk credentials after all!

They released one full length on Conquer the World Records (early home of Boy Sets Fire, Chokehold, other awesome bands) in 1995, as well as a couple seven inch records. They broke up around 1999 and started the Cons right after. They were one of the seminal bands of the mid-90s hardcore scene in SouthWestern Ontario, and continue to be my favourite band ever (mostly for the sake of nostalgia). I have their album and two songs from the seven inches in MP3 format, and can throw you an upload link once I get home to my computer and figure out how to do it. I also think they're available on iTunes.

Constantines are one of my favourite bands but I didn't know this part of their history until my brother pointed it out a little while back.

I figured that some of them had been in bands before the Cons but I didn't know they were involved with anything that went back so far. I mean, 1995 is a long time ago. They must've just been in high school back then.
