Those complaining about the anti-downloading tactics of the RIAA should take note. Popular (and often strange) musician, Prince, has reportedly gone on an offensive against fan sites and those who post anything from live photography to lyrics to album covers.
Previously, he attacked major file sharing sites like The Pirate Bay and popular media sites like YouTube, but that was relatively understandable, given his position. The new attack on any who posts even a photograph taken by themselves seems baffling to most, and legally questionable as well. Prince has even forbidden fans from posting images of their own tattoos if they use Prince-like imagery (i.e. that weird symbol.) After suing "The Internet," his label, and his fans, all that's left is to sue this guy for using his name. Games and Technology (57 comments)

yeah, i read about this earlier. prince has always been batshit insane. so many people have stories about being at his house and getting attacked, spit on, yelled at, you name it. i still think he's awesome, though. 1+ Reply

I hear if you say his name three times into a mirror, his lawyers appear and take your money. 1+ Reply

i'm amazed this wee man is still around. purple rain was released 2 decades ago....and i'm assuming people are more interested in that than anything he's released since (again, assumption). Regardless, what a prick. i think i'm going to sue everyone i know for looking at me.

Why stop there? Sue "The Prince of Tides" and "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air". But I doubt he'll want to piss off Uncle Phil.

It's a proven fact that sharing photos of live performances decreases your cd sales. 3+ Replies

Great. Now Punknews is gonna get shut down for linking to a picture of his symbol. Nice going, Aubin.

His next step will be to try and sue Prince Fielder for using his name. Then he will try and play 1st base for the Brewers and have to quit because he is messing up his hair.

leave it to prince to find the even deeper end, and jump right off...

I hear Machiavelli enlisted Johnny Cochrane to lead his defense team.

i thought about sending this in as it could change a lot for online communities in general if it holds up in court

Prince also recently declared all things named/colored purple must pay him royalties or face the options of changing their name/color or cease existing.
rakmike (November 8, 2007)
How long ago was it that Prince was relevant? Purple Rain? Maybe before 2000, when party like its 1999 became the cliche song to play for New Years despite the fact it was over a decade old? When Foo FIghters covered Darling Nicki and everyone under the age of 20 thought it was an original song?

This is too funny. Nothing better than to piss on everyone who buys your records, goes to your concerts, etc. Why would you sue your fans for basically promoting your stuff? I know when I see an album cover, I don't think "No reason to hear that album, that's all you need to know" well...I did that with Angel and Airwaves' CD, but seriously, a cover that gay says it all. | Features
