Scott Radinsky (Pulley) talks to Baseball Prospectus

Scott Radinsky, vocalist of Pulley and formerly of Ten Foot Pole as well as the White Sox and Dodgers, recently spoke to Baseball Prospectus about his career as a musician and ball player.

There was once a feature on him in Sports Illustrated many years ago. Wish I could find it now. He used to make Mike Piazza sing punk songs for him to get him pumped up.

Yeah. That was from July 1998, I think.

I had Pulley and Ten Foot Pole cds, but never knew he was an MLB pitcher until I randomly came across it. I remember thinkiing it was cool and liking the two pictures side by side.... and, of course, the anecdote of him standing on the mound, talking to his catcher, making him sing to him.

Why does watching football make you manly? I mean it's guys in spandex pants trying to tackle eachother for a ball. Also, wrestling is probably the most homoerotic thing ever, how is it considered manly as well?

Norman Nawroki of Rhythm Activism used to do a monologue in his stand up show "My Dick and Other Manly Tales" about football. He narrated a game and started to slip in sexual innuendos more and more to highlight the homoeroticism. He usually did this in front of audiences who thought the show was going to be about macho humour, and it turned out to be about homophobia. It was great (except that he got punched halfway through the show by a guy in the front row. Norman was dressed up as a 6 foot tall purple penis at that point in the show).
