He is from Minneapolis and his . . . brother Pete is the drummer in BURNING BRIDES who toured with us [before]. Dan knew all of us in HELMET and loved the music of HELMET and had just moved to Los Angeles a couple of months before we auditioned him. So it just worked out great for him and for us too. So we're really fortunate.The band recently announced a lengthy tour of the US and Australia. You can find those dates here
Los Angeles' Helmet have announced that Dan Beeman will be the newest guitarist to join their ranks. Dan will be replacing Jimmy Thompson who left the group at the end of 2007 to move back to his country of origin, Australia. Says band leader Page Hamilton:

This is the band I've never heard that I used to see all the time back in the days of used cd shopping in like the late 90's at the Warehouse. That place sucks, only good thing I ever got there was a copy of Flipper "Generic" for $7, score on that.

I saw Helmet about 3 years ago, and my friend and I felt like the youngest people there (I was about 25 at the time). Good solid show though (but the opener, Totimoshi, was kind of boring).

Helmet haven't been Helmet since their Amphetamine Reptile days, however Meantime does count because it was AmRep/Interscope, but man oh man, they should've packed it in YEARS ago.
