Smallman has signed "farmcore" act Carpenter. The group includes Dan Sioui of former Vancouver band All State Champion as well as Kelly Burnham of By a Thread, Ryan Howlett of Speaking of Heroes and JJ Heath of Daggermouth.
In the fall of 2007, Carpenter entered the legendary Mushroom Studios (Led Zeppelin, Heart, Sam Roberts) in Vancouver to record their first full-length album. Co-produced and engineered by Shawn Penner and Aaron Nordean (Bend Sinister, The Februarys, Three Inches of Blood), the record is titled Law of the Land is scheduled for release early this summer.
