Thursday recording new material

Thursday have posted an update on their upcoming plans which include recording and three April shows. The band released Kill the House Lights last year, but have not released a new studio record since 2006's A City by the Light Divided:

We know it's been a little while since you've heard from all of us here in Thursday World but we've been working diligently behind the scenes to bring you the next stage of the band's life. We're writing you from Big Blue Meenie Studios in Jersey City where we're recording some new stuff. There will be an exciting announcement, around April 1st, to let you know when and where we'll be releasing these tracks but in the meantime we're planning to get out of the studio and try them out live. So we have three shows coming up and they should be a blast. The first two shows are Poughkeepsie and Lancaster with one of our favorite new bands Envy On the Coast:

April 24, 2008	The Chance	Poughkeepsie, NY	Envy on the Coast, God Fires Man, Innerpartysystem
April 25, 2008	The Chameleon Club	Lancaster, PA	Envy on the Coast, God Fires Man
April 26, 2008	Montclair State University	Montclair, NJ	Method Man, etc.

Sometimes Saturday too but I've discovered I *can* have fun when out without drinking. Monday isn't one of those days though. Plus I find that the first hour or two after waking up (from like 4 hours sleep) are disproportionately bad compared with any enjoyment I get from the night before.

If you want to feel that same way permanently take GHB jello shots one night.

But no matter how much GHB you take, you will never feel as liberated from your mind as when you experience the freedom that is a right hemispherectomy. You won't be able to play the piano as well, but hell you won't care.

not talent. skill. there's a difference. the ramones were very skilled at what they did. but it did not take much talent to do what they did.

talent is really the prowess or ability an individual has when it comes to what they do. skill is their own personal touch or signature. what they do with the level of talent that they have. the ramones were not very talented, you cannot really debate that. but they were very skilled. they worked with what they had, and did it well. it worked for them. i agree with this.

Songwriting is by far the most important 'talent' for any band. There are countless bands out there that are masters of whatever instrument they play, but they never go anywhere because writing a decent song is way more important than the ability to shred.

Even though I completely adore A City By The Light Divided, I hope this next record is more in tune to the new single ["ladies and gentlemen..."]. Its good to see them back at Big Blue, where the bulk of their output has been recorded.

Its not so much hate as it is general confusion over nonsensical posts. Seriously, when you say "the cancer killing punk" in reference to a band who's never claimed to be a punk band, what exactly are you talking about? If you said this about Sum 41 or Good Charlotte I could see where you're coming from, but really it just doesn't make any sense.

I was gonna mention that, seems rather tasteless put the icon of all that is crappy about music next to a Thursday story.

Mind you, Victory Records have shut down their U.K offices now, so it seems that brand Brummel is very much on the decline, probably something to do with the fact that no good band will sign with them anymore.... When "Aiden" is your flagship band, you have serious problems.

So I guess the new full length is being released on victory then? That sucks, I need to listen to the new songs on Kill the House Lights again. I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for Thursday b/c they were the band that introduced me to underground music.
