Don Caballero set to record “Punkgasm”

Don Caballero are set to enter the studio this week to record their new full-length album titled Punkgasm.

The influential outfit will return to Rust Belt Studios in Michigan with producer / engineer Al Sutton to record Punkgasm. Working song titles include: "Slaughbaughs Ought Not Own Dog Data", "Aw Man, That's Jive Skip", and "Bulkeye". Founding member Che comments on the new material; "

I know this sounds like an obligatory and potentially phony statement but, I at least, firmly believe this will be the "best Caballero yet". All clichés be detonated.

The record is expected to see a late Summer '08 release via Relapse

2.) Vols. III & IV of this exercise simply aren't good.
3.) You're gonna hate yourself when they inevitably put the thing out in a box set with all four discs, a bonus DVD, chipped guitar picks, Kleenex once used by Kensrue etc.

From the Few Don Cab news pieces I've seen here it seems that either the band, or someone with too much of an attachment to the band, post here. Seriously, anytime there's a negative comment someone's like, "WHAT THE FUCK?! DC CHANGED MUSICQ!!!!YOU FUCK OFF AND DIE!"

Maybe that's every news story but I notice it particularly for Don Caballero.

The thing is that Don Cab are one of the great underappreciated bands in music. Not saying the ad hominem comments are cool, but it pains me to see people talk shit about maybe the best math-rock band ever. Granted their new stuff is prety weak compared to the classic lineup, but fucking with them is pretty shitty.

dude, they fucked with themselves. really. well, Damon did. i saw them a few years ago and the music was great but Damon is totally cashing in instead of just starting a new awesome band with a different name. ahem, Bellini anyone?

at their merch table he was selling his used drum sticks for $5 and t-shirts he wore for $20.

i agree with you that they are probably the greatest math rock band ever and just about everything they did on touch & go is unbeatable* but this "new lineup" kinda ruined it for me. they are the guns n roses of math rock.

*except for maybe battles. probably.
