Media: Elvis Costello and the Imposters: "Momofuku"

Elvis Costello and the Imposters have a full album stream of their latest album, the unusually named Momofuku. The record was released April 22, 2008, The band took an unusual approach with the record, by releasing it only on vinyl/digital. The vinyl itself will include a digital download code to enable purchasers to grab a copy of the record for their iPods. While this has become popular with indie labels like Saddle Creek, this is one of the first albums to be released this way on a major label.

Earlier this year, Elvis reissued his landmark 1978 album, This Year's Model.

You know who probably delivered the race for her in Indiana? Republicans spurred on by loudmouth gasbags like Rush Limbaugh to vote for Hillary so that the race will be easier for the GOP after the conventions. Nice base, Hil.

I really do get a snide thrill out of seeing loudmouth bullies exposed for the hypocrites they are. Unfortunately, it didn't cost him his show.

I hate it how he thinks all drug offenders should be locked up, but when he got busted for pills all he needed was rehab and counseling.

When white folks get caught with drugs they made a mistake or have a problem.

When black folks do they are potential dealers or need to be scared straight.

Here's a couple of my favorites:

- In South Africa in 1993 under apartheid, 851 black males per 100,000 were incarcerated.
- In the United States in 2004 under the drug war, 4919 black males per 100,000 were incarcerated.

15% of those who use drugs are African-Americans. Yet they make up 37% of those arrested for drug charges, 59% of those convicted, and 74% of those in prison for drugs.

Yeah, I just paid rent, so it's kidney beans and macaroni until next Thursday. Saturday night's show is going to be my splurge (and partially financed by my selling expedition earlier that day).

If you're at all interested, I'll draw up a quick list of what I have if you guys want first dibs on anything and I'll either ask for a couple of bucks or just gift it outright. I'd rather my records go to my friends first.

It will be funny to see vinyl start to show up in places like Best Buy, I remember all the old Record Bar's and those kind of stores full of records before it failed to make them a profit.

Fuck that. There should only be outside party commentary if 1) the movie is so old that everyone involved in making it is either senile or dead, or 2) the movie is a masterpiece of cinema and thus worthy of critical analysis as it plays (like GoodFellas).

Now that this news item has been completely hijacked, I feel like I should comment on the album.

Sounds pretty damn good so far through 4 tracks. I've always thought Elvis Costello had a great rock and roll voice.

Plus, didn't he produce that Specials album. That pretty much gives him a free pass for life.

I'm gonna agree with Armed Forces. What's So Funny Bout Peace, Love and Understanding is probably my all time fav of his. 2nd and 1st albums close behind of course.
