Genghis Tron announces five LP remix series

Genghis Tron has announced a five 12-inch LP remix series. The set will include remixes of all the songs from the band's 2008 Relapse debut, Board Up the House. Each will be limited to 1,000 copies, pressed on coloured vinyl and released on one of five labels: Temporary Residence Ltd., Lovepump United, Relapse Records, Anticon Records, and Crucial Blast Records.

For the remixes, the band has enlisted a influential list of collaborators including Justin Broadrick of Jesu/Godflesh, Rob Crow of Pinback, Dntel of The Postal Service, Black Moth Super Rainbow, Ulver,Telefon Tel Aviv, Steve Moore, Danny Lohner, Subtle, Odd Nosdam, Circle, Tim Heckler, and many more. The band added:

We've wanted to do something grander and more 'official' for a long time, so we're proud to say that we've finally assembled a very massive, very official remix project. We reached out to lots of musicians who we admire and overall we've been completely overwhelmed at their willingness to participate in this massive, awesome project.

The first volume of the series is expected on Temporary Residence in September.

These guys are absolutely awful live. Caught them in Pittsburgh with Converge and The Red Chord and they just did not stack up at all. Probably the most boring hardcore band in music today. Thoughts?

personally i disagree. I love them on record and I think that they are good live, if you take into account they dont have a drummer/are forced to rely on programmed stuff. The guitarist is always DEAD ON and thats a big time plus, and I think Mookie is good live too

i agree, when i saw them live it took a few songs before i got used to what i was seeing - they have a different stage setup and dynamic to most modern bands so it takes a little getting used to, but overall i thought they were fucking dead on live!

I was at that show in pittsburgh. They may have been "DEAD ON" but that doesn't mean it was any good. they couldn't have less of a stage presence

I'm not sure I would conisder Genghis Tron to be a hardcore band, but I definately loved seeing them live. The whole light show really works well.

Hopefully they'll remix it into something worth listening to. They're better when mashing up other artists work. Also, so are they doing 200 copies on each label? I can't necessarily see a practical reason.

First album is better than anybody could've possibly expected. Second album is boring and uneven.

Definately wouldn't mind hearing the Ulver remix, but five LP seems a bit excessive.
