Less Than Jake's Vinnie talks about GNV FLA, labels, 360 deals

Less Than Jake drummer and lyricist Vinnie Fiorello recently recorded a short 5 minute interview talking about how their upcoming album came about. Among the subjects that Vinnie discusses, are why the band opted to self-release the record rather than going with an established label like Fat or Epitaph, and the challenges that LTJ faced in the process. As well, the band talks about taking ownership of their entire image and is quite critical of the kind of 360-degree deals that have become popular in the industry.

Along with Vinnie, the video includes studio videos and some finished tracks from the album. The record is titled GNV FLA and is due out June 24, 2008.

The new song they put out was pretty decent, but I'm still a bit weary. I'm really hoping GNV FLA knocks me on my ass, but I won't be surprised if it doesn't.

Side note: I've been listening to this band for like 11 years, and I think that's the most I've ever heard Vinnie say.

ORGWORLD! I need help.

I just got Abbey Road on vinyl and i think it might be an original. I can't find any dates on it at all and it sounds like a vinyl from that era. Do you guys know ANY way i can find out? Websites and such?

The first issues of the Beatles "Abbey Road" can be recognized by the following attributes:

Label: The standard dark green Apple label
The label does NOT have "Sold in the U.K..." statement.
The label has "Mfd. in U.K.".
The label has "Produced by George Martin"
Matrix/Stamper codes: YEX 749-2, YEX 750-1
It does not have "Her Majesty" listed on the label

Seriously, the dude is not that great of a drummer. I still love old LTJ, and he's not completely incompetent, but there's nothing outstanding about him.

baaah thank you! I'm glad I'm not the only one. I hear the new song last week, and then for 2 days straight I am whistling Mistake, singing it in the shower, whatever, and I'm like...'where is this coming from? I haven't heard this song in at least 6 months' So I finally put it together that it must sound just like Lion City, but like you, I listen to both, 'eh, they're not THAT similar.' Something about the one just totally recalls the other I guess.
