Shook Ones sign to Paper & Plastick

According to a report from Alternative Press, Shook Ones have signed to Paper & Plastick. The label was founded by Less Than Jake's Vinnie Fiorello and is vinyl/digital-only.

The band will be recording with Jackson Long at Two Sticks Audio in October and are planning a January 2009 release for their third full length.

The band's last full length, Facetious Folly Feat, was released in 2006 via Revelation Records.

i love the fact that it's a vinyl/digital only label.

Isn't the point that CDs aren't digital? Like by digital they mean mp3s?

CDs are in the business of storing data in 1s and 0s. thus digital.

and i really hope he's gonna lisence the releases on this label for CD release on other labels, because he's signing a lot of bands who are quite popular within the genre (these guys and the explosion for example) and is gonna end up depriving all those who still prefer CDs to vinyl or downloads of some great albums.

I think Vinnie might have a good thing going with this label. The vinyl only part is the best.

Sleep it Off is LTJ's label, and is only LTJ releases.
P&P is basically Vinnie continuing what he did with FBR.

i think he just meant that when someone says, "oh you guys signed to so and so", when actually no one really signs anything for smaller, good hearted, punk rock labels, it's more of a verbal thing

Hardcore Punk band records with emo/indie producer. Almost certain to have a lofi sound that won't capture the raging energy. Well of course, unless they stopped being a Kid Dynamite cover band and wrote something different.

the only thing that sucks is if the band wants to put out a cd, because believe it or not people do still buy them and like them, they need a seperate label to do so

damn, i mean vinnie seems like an otherwise cool guy, but way to cater for just the vinyl elitists and those who see music as disposable...

It's the direction things are going in. He may be a little ahead of his time, but as a boutique label, it makes sense.

the fact that you are saying "people still buy cds" just means that you haven't actually been trying to sell cds. In fact, cds are on the way out, if people want to have a cd, then they can buy the vinyl, which will come with a high quality digital download card, and burn their own cd(s) off their computer.
