Killswitch Engage to enter studio in October

Killswitch Engage bassist Mike D'Antonio has told MTV's "Metal File" that the band is scheduled to enter the studio in October to begin work on its new album for a tentative spring 2009 release via Roadrunner Records. A headlining run is also in the works for March.

I'm one of those dudes who needs to write constantly, because I really suck at writing music with a deadline," D'Antonio told "Metal File". "My brain gets fried, and I can't do anything, I just shut down completely. When we start on this next one, we'll just bring our demos to practice, and we'll listen to them, judge them and start rearranging the parts that need to be rearranged - or we just start jamming on what sounds cool.

He added that so far, the material is sounding "fast" and everything he's written for the LP "has at least one blast beat and very fast drumming, with really slow riffs."

I've always associated this band with people who like Breaking Benjamin and LInkin Park and stuff.... am I wrong on this?

maybe more along the lines of system of a down linkin park. i personally cant stand the singer, but theres alot worst going around

i accept your opinion about the singer. that said, i disagree with you.

granted their last album left something to be desired (for me), i still really enjoy howard jones's vocals. and joel "strudel" is a pretty darn good guitarist.

associating people that listen to linkin park and system of a down with fans of this band is pretty false... at least, in my circle of friends it is. i don't think you'll find the guitarists of either of those bands high-fiving in the middle of a ridiculous riff-off live like adam d and joel do.

if you want to hear a heavier vocal performance from howard jones, check out blood has been shed. a lot less singing and a lot more bone-crushing metal.

no doubt about the guitars, they do rip. i just cant get over the vocals but yeah the guitars are insanely good on all their albums...i do still prefer darkest hour, but im not saying this bad is terrible by any means

my cousin likes killswitch engaged and he also likes linkin park and limp bizkit. so, no, you aren't wrong at all. even before i found out my cousin likes them i assciated them with those people.

i like killswitch, but i don't listen to linkin park. i do still have limp bizkit's first CD, which i maintain wasn't as horrible as their more recent releases.

gott DAMN. that off with their heads album fucking blows the fleshlight bantha out of the water. OWTH = quickly climbing to one of the best albums of the year for me. believe it.

Agreed. From The Bottom is at my number 2, haven't heard the Banner Pilot record yet.

i'll second this. he isn't safe for girls to hang out with.

i saw killswitch play at krome once and afterwards, adam d walked past a few friends and i and said, "did you guys see me pull and angus young up there? i fell over and was walking in circles on the floor!" we all laughed and someone pointed out that they witnessed him humping the monitors as well. he said "sick, right?" followed it up with "ooh! young girls... take it easy, guys." and walked off towards some young girls.

he's a really good guy though.

Adam D is a weirdo, and although people love to rip on him, he is one of my favorite studio engineers around, along with Zeuss, Steve Carter, and Jason Suecoff.

when i was in middle school (95, 96) i was first getting into music then...pennywise, bad religion, weezer, unwritten law, sprung monkey, lagwagon, the ramones.

i pretty much only still listen to br and the ramones. and sometimes weezer.

Some of the TRV KVLT MVTL kids listen to Dragonforce.

I listened to shit in MIddle School, I envy the fact that you got into good stuff.

Blast Beats? Did KSE get a new drummer who might be able to pull it off?

Alive Or Just Breathing and the EP before it were good. They should have broken up when Jesse Leech left the band. Howard Jones sounds like Luther Vandross singing hardcore. The riffs have got worse, the drumming worse, the mixing worse.

Killswitch Engage as they are today is a prime example of BAD metalcore.
Unearth is an example of GOOD metalcore.

overcast WAS awesome. they should have kept overcast in the past. that "new" record with rerecorded songs is one of the most terrible things i've heard in years. i really don't understand why they had to rerecord songs that already sounded awesome. cause they just made them sound ridiculously bad, which i knew would happen as soon as i heard they were doing that. ughhhhhh.

They headlined my date of Warped Tour in '07, and before they came on, alot of old people showed up wearing their t-shirts. Nerdy old people who wear the shirt of the band their seeing are stoked!
