The Offspring mourn Jerry Finn

The Offspring's Dexter Holland issued a statement August 22nd regarding the death of producer Jerry Finn:

We would like to extend our deepest sympathy to the family of Jerry Finn. We worked with Jerry in the studio many times over the years, and he produced the songs "Can't Repeat" and "Next To You" for our Greatest Hits album. He was a pleasure to be around and we are thankful for the time we were able to spend with him. Jerry left his mark on countless great records, and he will be missed.

RIP, my friend.

The Offspring are currently supporting their latest release Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace.

Are you kidding me? Talk shit all you want about post-americana Offspring, it can be debated til the cows come home, but let's not apply retroactive stupidity. Smash deserved all it got and then some.

Smash was okay. I know it's known for 100% happy funtime success and everyone's all "zOMG IT''''''S 0N A INDIPANDENT LABLE". But it wasn't as good as it was cracked up to be. Ixnay is a definite win though.

I thought SMASH was pretty shitty when it came out. I'm pretty sure I threw that tape out the window of my car. (I did that a lot, littering is fun)

Dude, Smash isn't even close to being the band's best work. It gets eclipsed by Ignition and Ixnay. Hell, i'll even put Americana ahead of it.

Anyone else here notice that the first or second song off that newest album COMPLETELY, riff for riff, rips off "Helena" by MCR? Even the drums are almost exactly the same... Smash and Ixnay are the only half-decent albums by this band, and even they're not that good. Even the old "punk" ones are completely unlistenable.

Yeah, I commented on first listen to my friend that it sounds like a better Helena. I'm an MCR fan, too, so I'm not ripping on it or anything.

Save a large part of Take Off Your Pants And Jacket I've thoroughly enjoyed every blink-182 release, and +44 just sounds like a continuation of the self titled album.

Plus, I've never grown out of Mark's sense of toilet humor.

It depends who you ask, i'm a bit of a fanboy so obviously my opinion is biased. It's their best work since Americana hands down. Give it a download, i think the first 5 tracks are worth the purchase alone.

This is pretty much the most shocking death in punkrock since Jim Cherry, to me at least. Dont know why there was so much hate for his production. The only overproduction I can really remember is moments on AFI's last two records. Take off your pants and jacket was so on point and his work on Pennywise's About Time was pretty damn nice.

this is obnoxious because lots of bands and fans are mourning him but "the offspring" get the headline. that just doens't settle right with me, no offense to the offspring, but nobody should be getting extra media attention on someone's death. if you are gonna give it. let's see all 50 bands get a post then so i can click on their bands link.
