not necessarily. how many shows is someone really gonna go to? Even if this was my favorite band, I wouldn't travel all over the country or the world going to each show.

bands don't really make all that much money from ticket sales and letting one fan into the shows for free just frees up 20 bucks or whatever for that kid to spend on merch which goes directly to the band

their first album and even some of the later stuff has a pretty evident Smoking Popes influence which is great but the songwriting isn't there. I'd rather listen to the Popes or AK3.

on guilty pleasures... i didn't have any until last night. i was going through a bunch of albums my buddy gave me from his external harddrive thingy, deciding what to keep and what to delete. something made me decide to keep and give a listen to taking back sunday's "tell all your friends" and silverstein's "when broken is easily fixed." i'd heard like1 or 2 songs of each of these and wrote them off instantly at the time. i've had a few people tell me to stop being cool and give these a listen, and i'm pretty glad i did, shit's not bad (silverstein's vocals kindof suck but the music is good enough). and from what i've heard, bayside deserves a chance as well, so i think they're next.

Yeah, I've seen Saves the Day about 7 times and was surprised how many older people were there. When they toured with Senses Fail 3 years ago, after they were done, like 1/3 of the crowd left. It was awesome because I didn't have to deal with many 12-16 years old. Even during the Bamboozle Road Show there were alot of older people there for them. Fuck, I'm on Saves the Day's nut so bad, they are teabagging me permanently.

I personally love Bayside. I think they get a bad wrap for being on Victory and touring with some of the bands they tour with. But they are great at what they do... and I definitely agree with the Smoking Popes comparison. I always forget they're not a Chicago band because they have that Alkaline Trio/Smoking Popes sound.

Summary: Great band in my opinion!!!

i only ever used my rftc tattoo once. most bands will actually do that though. at least a lot of the smaller ones who won't likely have a million kids with the logo. Alkaline Trio or Him for example would go broke if they tried that

I think it's a cool idea. I mean, if someone liked my band enough to tattoo my logo/lyrics on their body, I would be honored out of my mind (poor pairing of state and vernacular?) and would definitely want to get them into my shows for free.

Which band would go broke the fastest with that idea, I'd have to go with the Souls, or the Misfits.

Heh yeah, Souls are better anyway. It's funny because my girlfriend is saving up for a Souls' heart tattoo.

I can't remember the last time I saw someone with the fiend tattoo though... not like I live in a place where people get band tattoos anyway (I have a Jawbreaker 4F tattoo and some old dude who lives here has a Black Flag on his neck, and I think that's it), but I can think of probably three or four dudes I've seen at shows with the Souls heart but I can't remember seeing any fiends.

Yeah, I don't see them too often at shows, but it seems like Misfits fans (like big time Misfits fans) aren't really into modern punk, especially orgcore, so they wouldn't really show up. More into like metal and hardcore 80's punk. So at shows it isn't common, but I see 'em on the streets plenty. And on the streets I rarely see a orgcore band tat, but they all gather at shows, but the Souls def. lead the pact.

Between The Buried and Me are the second best modern metal band out there right now (the first being Mastodon). Colors was the best album of last year, in my opinion. Technical, complex, heavy as all hell, and somehow, despite being somewhat inaccessible, super catchy. And no, they did not start the band as a joke or any shit like that. Go listen to your punk shit.
