About:

Solid State Records is a sub label of Tooth & Nail Records, specializing in the "harder" genres of music, mostly hardcore and metal. The label is most known for bands like Stretch Arm Strong, Zao, Beloved, and Norma Jean.

Much controversy revolves around Solid State's bands just as it does Tooth & Nail's, with the brunt of the issues focusing on the bands' religious preferences. While many bands on the Solid State roster may contain members who are Christian, Solid State as an entity has never claimed to be a strictly "Christian" label. As religion has always been a hotly contested issue within punk rock, many of these groups have become - for lack of a better term - "martyred" by fans.

Underoath calls Avenged Sevenfold "a gimmick"
In the latest Metalhammer, Underoath shared some choice words for popular punk/glam metal act Avenged Sevenfold. Guitarist Tim McTague explained: What’s popular, to a degree, is what pushed me to find something that isn’t popular for Underoath. Chiodos or Escape The Fate who do kind of the same thing – screaming and singing and whatever – do it their way, so we’re like, ‘let’s do it completely the opposite’ because we…
