Weezer to return to the studio in November

Billboard is reporting that Weezer will hit the studio this November to record the follow up to the "Red Album." Drummer Pat Wilson revealed that the band will again be working with producer Garret "Jacknife" Lee.

On the last record all four members of the popular act switched instruments, took turns singing, and contributed songwriting. Wilson pegs this as the reason for the quick turnaround.

Now that we've got more writers, we don't have to wait for Rivers to have a bunch of songs he's happy with. We used to take forever to make a record, then tour on it forever and be burnt out and not do anything for two years. This is a lot better.

Quality over quantity dude. Everyone else's songs suck, and even Rivers has gotten hit-or-miss.

all the bad songs on the red album were songs rivers did not write. i didn't originally think weezer could get worse, but it seems like they're going to try.

I think if Pat and Rivers wrote I'd be okay with it because The Special Goodness is pretty decent stuff, however, what the fuck.

I love Weezer, I've liked everything they've done, even the Make Believe album that a lot of people disliked, but The Red Album was horrible. The lyrics were something of a 5th grader's, the songs were mediocre, and it all was put together in a very un-weeezer like manner. If they come out with another Red Album, all faith will be lost in this band.

The only song I liked on Red was Brian's, so maybe this is a good thing. Not in the least bit stoked though.

it sucks. whenever a weezer album came out i kept telling myself "maybe this will be better then the last" i don't need a classic, but just something of high quality. the red album was the first one i didn't purchase, it just seemed like it was going to be more cutesy lyrics built around bad songs, and now i've heard a couple more tracks off of it and im glad i didnt pick it up. shame

The Red album sucked because they kept switching around songwriters.
This next album is gonna be a bummer.
Can you guys just rip off The Blue Album?
To this day, that album remains close to me, just like "24 Hour Revenge Therapy" and "Goddamnit" as one of the most perfect albums I've ever heard.

scarves on dudes is very first couple of years of college. at first you're like, all right, this makes sense, I'm an adult now, i'm in college but all of a sudden you're 23 and seeing a dude with a scarf makes you remember how much you secretly hated all those assholes a couple of years ago and you're brimming with rage. not recommended.

I don't know who wrote what on the Red album but I did really like it. The first five songs were blatently the best though.

Another album this soon is worrying though. Take time to perfect a great bunch of songs rather than knock something half-arsed out!

I havent heard any of the Red album material, but that is the way I felt about the Green album b-sides. Matter of fact, I might put on my Green B-sides mix while I write a paper this morn.
