Fighting with Wire signs to Photo Finish

Derry, Northern Ireland's Fighting With Wire have signed to Photo Finish Records. The band has drawn comparisons to At The Drive-In, Fugazi and the Foo Fighters. Fighting With Wire plan to release their U.S. debut in early 2009.

ATDI - Good instrumentation, the vocals are a bit much.
Fugazi - Well, it's Fugazi. Great band.
Foo Fighters - Good potential, too many slow songs and mainstream rockiness.

But a combo actually sounds pretty good.

to be honest, comparing them to those bands is a bit over-specific. you can definitely hear a foo-fighters influence, a huge one at that, but i guess comparing them to atdi and fugazi is a round-about way of saying they've got a bit of a post-hardcore influence. catchy as fuck, mind, all of it.

the album's been out here in the UK for a good few months now, i bought it on the strength of "everyone needs a nemesis" and it's seriously up there in my top ten of the year so far. not a bad song on it!

that "bonus ep" thing they're offering there is basically a sampler of the album, but they're some of the best tracks, definitely worth getting. you can always unsubscribe from the mailing list thing afterwards if you want.
