Beastie Boys plan "Get Out and Vote" tour

Billboard is reporting that the Beastie Boys have recruited Sheryl Crow, Norah Jones, Jack Johnson and Ben Harper to join them on the Get Out and Vote tour. The tour will kick off October 28th in Richmond, Virginia and feature shows in St. Paul, Minnesota and Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

The band is endorsing Senator Barack Obama and explained:

This election is too important to stay at home. We hope that you can come out, have a nice night, dance, sing, get your freak on, and then wake up the next morning and get everyone that you possibly can to get out and vote.

The band released the instrumental album, The Mix-Up, in 2007.

For the beasties, its all about the albums, who the hell opens up multiple albums with songs over 15 minutes?! Now that's fucking ballsy.

Of the punk shit my favorite is "brand new", but i still go apeshit for "heart attack man" and think its really nice of them to still play it live at every show

From the instrumental tracks i like Futterman's Rule on Ill Communication.

There's no fucking with the hits though, they're all golden as far as music on mtv goes.

While i don't agree with their endorsement, i really like this band. You see, my fellow Americans, my running mate John McCain was a prisoner of war for five years. During that time, he was stripped of even the most basic rights, including the right to party. As this band so cheerfully proclaims, "You gotta fight for your right to party" and that is a message every Joe and Jane Sixpack should understand. We all have the right to have three shotguns in every household and constitutionally defend our right to party.

My fellow Americans, as you have read my sidekick, and running partner's comment above - I would like to further elaborate. As my Sarah has pointed out, endorsing a person who endorses terrorism is ridiculous and harmful to the economy. Also, along with shotguns, I believe everyone should be able to purchase an offshore drilling license, so we can drill for oil which will eventually make us a wealthier economy, and more money means more money to party. One more thing, and the real reason I am posting under this topic, I'm not sure who it was..but one of you sent my team an email remarking on how we should use the song "Heart Attack Man" by this band as a song for my next television ad; just because i forget where i am or what is going on sometimes doesn't mean it's an invitation to insult me. Having said that, everyone remember to vote ..I can't think of the exact date, but

I understand the Beastie Boys are close to break up the band. They should record one last raw hardcore record, like their early stuff. Maybe even get Moby in there on guitar or something. Just to piss off all their fans who discovered them after Intergalactic.

Love the Beasties, but one of the worst live shows I've ever seen. Maybe in a small 1-2,000 seater ... but they didn't translate well at all to the large arenas they've been touring in.
