IGN has published another top list, this one featuring the "10 Great Punk Singers." The list includes David Vanian from The Damned, Joey Ramone from The Ramones, Greg Graffin from Bad Religion, Henry Rollins of Black Flag, Chad Price of ALL, H.R. from Bad Brains, Blake Schwarzenbach of Jawbreaker, John "Johnny Rotten" Lydon of Sex Pistols, Ari Katz of Lifetime and Glenn Danzig of The Misfits.
The list curiously omits some seemingly obvious choices though, like Joe Strummer, Jello Biafra and is bound to be a little controversial. Still the set includes the list of musicians as well as video performances from each and is worth checking out. You can check out the list here. News (271 comments)

i like ALL a lot, but you'd think milo/descendents would be on some fancy list ahead of chad/ALL no? 4+ Replies

why is a video game site doing a punk rock list? not that it's any more authentic than other purely subjective list out there. do they even establish criteria? i clicked on the link and my browser exploded. i hate using old Macs at work. 2+ Replies

Jake Burns should be on this list, punk as it gets. The singer from ALL should definitely not be on here. 1+ Reply

blake is on there so this list is ok. With the exception of ari, I like him, just don't think he's top 10. 4+ Replies

Did anyone notice...isn't that a picture of Jerry Only where Danzig is listed?? 1+ Reply
Seth_Uber_Alles (November 12, 2008)
Take Ari Katz and Chad Price off there and put Joe Strummer and Jello Biafra. Ian MacKaye should also be on there. Hmm let's see, for Glenn Danzig there was a picture of Jerry Only, that was weird. I feel like Fat Mike should be on there as well, but oh well. 2+ Replies

at least we can all agree on Blake. Except for jawbreakersucks, and he can just fuck off. Also, I have been debating this with one of my friends for a few weeks now. Ragan or Wollard??? I think they compliment each other well but i'm gonna go with chuck. 2+ Replies

Wait let me get this straight, a website made a list and EVERYONE has beef with it? I'm shocked and appalled, Punknews. You all NEVER have this many complaints about someone's opinionated list.

Where is Max Bemis? or is this the list of best singers after him? Nice that Ari Katz made the list.

These guys obviously did a wikipedia search and made a list without knowing what the fuck they were talking about. Henry Rollins but no Keith Morris?
rRooster (November 12, 2008)
I understand currently he shouldn't be considered; but I remember Davey from AFI back in the mid 90's and he sounded great. When he lost the mic in the crowd he would continue to sing and still be perfectly audible over the guitar and drums. 2+ Replies

The only one of my favourite singers to come from a punk band is Greg Graffin. Although, to be honest, Michael Graves is a great vocalist.

Chad Price instead of Milo Aukerman? That's fucking retarded. While I have to admit, the Chad Price era was the best era of ALL, nothing compares to Milo Aukerman in the Descendents. Everything Sucks was originally suppose to be an ALL record. So, there are demo's of Chad Price singing most of the record. If you listen to both versions back to back, there's no competition. | Features
