Billy Bragg, Nick Cave, Man Man on new free Anti- Sampler

Anti- has launched a free sampler featuring music from the label's entire roster. Physical copies of the sampler are being given out with purchase by a number of retailers, but the entire thing can be downloaded here.

The compilation includes songs from Jolie Holland, Islands, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Lyrics Born, Mavis Staples, Tim Fite, Man Man, N.A.S.A., Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, William Elliott Whitmore, Billy Bragg, Cadence Weapon, Xavier Rudd, Bob Mould, Ersi Arvizu, DeVotchKa and Ramblin' Jack Elliott,

Yes. When D.G. an the gang formed in the mid '90's, they had attempted to use the name: The Food Fighters. The OG band sued, and they dropped the "d", hence the foo.
An aside: Phoenix TX was origonaly "River Phoenix", but the family of the late actor took legal recourse, so they took on the former mentioned title.
