I know someone who looks just like jack black who did it in spain and he seemed vastly underqualified so you could probably do it with just a BA. Do you think you have to speak the language of the country you're going to though? Or do they already know engrish and you're just teaching them more?

You don't have to know the language, which I think is a little shitty, because then I'll just be an asshole American speaking English in a foreign country. And all you need is a BA in anything, I remember that from the qualifications.

A guy I work with does it every summer. He says it's pretty cool. You don't even need to speak the language of the country you're going to. It's like a total submergence thing for the students.

Yeah that's wild, although I thought this offer was for an entire year rather than for a summer, not sure, I'll have to look into it soon since I graduate in a couple weeks.

You can do it with a BA and no teaching experience or you can do a TEFL course (teaching english as a foreign language) and that can help. You can teach English or get placements in schools as a teaching assistant. A friend of mine went to Japan to do it, signed up and got accomodation, 6 years later he teaches full time and has no intention of returning.

The only thing you will probably have to pay for is the plane ticket, but fuck it, its worth it for the experience.

Yeah that sounds awesome, I think I would choose Japan, and I have an aunt that's Japanese so I could learn some of the language I'm sure. I think I saw that you pay for the plane ticket, which is quite a lot of money, but I thought it said they reimburse you for it later, or something similar to that.

I guess it's all relative to the company/school you go for. The thing that I found was that your expenditure is pretty low (especially to start off with, teaching in a foreign language you don't know is killer) so in comparison to your average travelling trip it will be cheap. Plus no accommodation and if you get in with the right school (ie a boarding school) potentially very low living costs.

i've been thinking about doing that for a year after i graduate.

Damn that looks awesome, I was so pissed I couldn't get into that. People were waiting outside for like 90 minutes and still never got in. I caught some of their main set though so it wasn't a total loss

especially if you take that dump at work, because then you got payed to take a nice, relaxing dump.

It really enriches your life.
