NOFX, Devil Wears Prada, Flogging Molly, Bad Religion at Warped 2009

According to a report from the Daily Chorus, Kevin Lyman of the Warped Tour announced the first batch of confirmed bands at the 12th Annual Ernie Ball / Vans Warped Tour Battle of the Bands Showcase.

To date, main stage acts confirmed for the bill include NOFX, The Devil Wears Prada, Flogging Molly and Bad Religion. The latter band was confirmed by bassist Jay Bentley in a recent interview.

Well, that's a good start (- that Prada shit). Keep it up and I might actually have to go again this year. Say what you want, but I still have fun watching Molly and NOFX. And Bad Religion is always fun to see, although I'd much prefer a club.

Ditto. I just checked my CD's and I have 17 NOFX cd's including bootlegs and eps and such. That's not including whatever I've downloaded. I don't care much for Liberal Animation, but S&M and Ribbed still get alot of time from me.

Other good bands that would make this great... Lagwagon, Gaslight, The Slackers, Strike Anywhere, Strung Out, Darkest Hour, Alkaline Trio, and maybe some Paint it Black to show the neon kids what real hardcore is.

Do you go to shows where random pop bands are playing and complain about an Against Me coverband playing?

You got nofx and bad religion, 2 more bands from one side dummy are going to play and that's it. The rest will be white boy crunk acts. Don't go if you don't like it.

The problem with this line of thinking though is this: When I went to the last date at this years Warped in Carson, CA every band that went on stage seemed to say, in one way or another how happy they were to be apart of the, "Punk rock summer camp".

It's a conflicting tour almost every year. Like last year, they had DI, Big Drill Car, Against Me! and Rise Against, all bands I'd be very interested in seeing. But for every legendary band like BDC, there was a Katy Perry or Angels and Airwaves or Bring me The Horizon. They might all play seperate stages or at different times, but with so many stages, sometimes the sound bleeds over into what you're trying to enjoy.

Not to mention Bad Religion never tours anymore unless they are on the Warped Tour. The only chance you really have to see them is to see them, and sit through six or seven Devil Wear

The Bronx went on at 2:00 at the Jersey date and they had easily the weakest crowd on the mainstage. It seemed like there were only 150 kids watching them.

They played at fucking 1pm at the San Antonio date. Street Dogs played at 12:30 and I missed most of their set. Then I had to wait 5 excruciating hours for Against Me and The Aggrolites. Worst warped experience so far.

I wouldn't go if it was anywhere else but The Gorge. Luckily, I could pass out when shitty bands play with a magnificent view beyond said shitty band's stage. Now if only beer wasn't relegated to a shitty enclosure and costs your soul, Warped Tour would be easier to swallow.

In New Jersey they only have Budweiser and Heineken for $5 a bottle. Still, the worst was the Bamboozle where the beer was $8... and I'm fairly certain they only had Miller Lite.

I was an RA for three years and I have to say it is worth it. Once you've done it for a year or two, see if you can RA in the university owned apartment so you don't have to live in the dorms.

Also, as for the banal problems, you will likely get three kinds of problems:
1. kids being jackassess which if you dont write up, you will get in trouble.
2. Kids being jackassess which if you don't write up you won't get in trouble.
3. Kids who actually have a real problem.

As for writing kids up, I think a good rule is to only write them up when you will get in trouble if you dont becuase they are being so obvious. if you won't get in trouble and no one is n physical danger, I say don't write them up.

Also, be sure not ignore any kids that might need help of some sort. it isn't your job to be friends with them or t

the warped tour is still great, there are always at least 2-3 good headlining bands
and always a handful of good smaller bands , and its not like your gonna see 30 bands in one day , you'll see maybe a dozen .. last year I told myself fuck it this year is gonna suck but i ended up going and it was fun anyways, i saw the bouncing souls , pennywise , reel big fish , set your goals , against me , protest the hero , the planet smashers , subb and a couple more ... thats a pretty good lineup in my book. sure it's expensive and all that shit but bottom line is it's a fun day

In theory i'd agree with you, but the last two years have been horrid. Last year there were three bands that i really wanted to see. And maybe 2 or so more that i was "meh" about. Wasn't worth the drive, the money, or the sunburn.

I think the last one I went to was in '02...It had Hot Water Music, Rancid, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Bad Religion, Lagwagon, Flogging Molly and The Alkaline Trio...I never went back to one because they'd all just be a disappointment after seeing that line up.

As much shit Warped Tour gets (you can't deny the ton of bad bands, lame people, etc.), I really can't stop going. I've gone every summer since 2001 and it has become a fun habit I formed, and it its worst (2005) it's still memorable for one reason or another. Even if there are only 3 or 4 few bands I want to see, I like it more now - what was once a race from stage to stage for 8 hours when I was 14 is now a more calm, relaxed experience. The heat doesn't bother me and it's only an hour away from where I live.

I've gone every year since '97. It's kinda like a big outdoor punkrock fleamarket with bands playing all around you (although the amount of good bands is obviously declining each year, which hopefully will get slightly better in '09). And there are usually lots of scantily clad hot females all around (yes I'm talking about the ones that actually look legal, believe it or not, there are still a fair amount). Plus I come home with a great tan.

Nofx AND BR? yeah I'll be there. I've been to mtl warped every year since '97, and as lame as some of the linups have been, the combination of good friends, booze'n drugs, and a few rad bands has made it worthwhile every year. Oh yeah, and I can hear the show somewhat from where I live, so it would piss me off to miss it.

I hope not (about LTJ). When I saw them on their last tour they asked the crowd if they preferred them to do their big headlining tour each summer or if they'd rather see them at Warped Tour. The crowd was overwhelmingly in support of the former. As am I.

They pretty much committed to it back in April. Vinnie also confirmed it recently. I heard a rumor about Big D as well but have no source on that other than some dude talking online.
