Fear, Devo, Elvis Costello, RATM in "Best 5 SNL Performances"

Rapid Transit Radio has put together a list (with video) of what they are calling, "The 5 Best Band Performances on SNL." The list includes famous performances from Devo, Elvis Costello, Rage Against The Machine, Faith No More and Fear.

I couldn't find a video of their performance when i was writing the post. I have since found it, and plan on writing a follow up post with a few others soon.

What's really funny is at the time SNL was EXTREMELY nervous about FEAR playing. Lorne came into the band's dressing room beforehand, John Belushi was stoked, and allegedly BLACK FLAG was booked for a few weeks later.

The show (as you can see) cut off the broadcast of the band's performance & it wasn't rebroadcast or available for a couple of decades, except on well-worn & oft-duplicated videotapes.

Looking back, there's finally others @ the show who realize how awesome that set is.

When they were rebroadcasting SNL on Comedy Central I finally caught the ep with Elliott Smith but they didn't show the performance....they probably would now that he's dead.

What's better then? The 80s were terrible. The early 90s had a good cast, but the writing sucked. The 70s of course were great, but as far as straight up laughs are concerned nothing beats the Will Ferrel years.
