Deryck Whibley to produce The Audition

Deryck Whibley of Sum 41 will be sitting in the producer's chair for the next album from The Audition. According to a Rock Sound report, the band had this to say:

We talked to a bunch of producers before we got hooked up with Deryck from Sum 41. We hit it off instantly, he has a totally different outlook than any other producer we have worked with, he is really all about song writing and making sure all the songs are ready and that we have taken our time to put everything into them.

The Audition released Champion last year. Sum 41 released Underclass Hero, a Japan-only greatest hits collection and are planning a new EP soon.

Of COURSE he has a different outlook than any other actual producer. "Okay, now for this song, it's a little too fast, how about we change it a bit....slow it down and bring in a female vocalist for duel vocals. I know this great female singer, she IS punk you know and knows a lot about what will sell. What do you say guys?"

Has anyone here seen the Audition THE FILM?

I had it recommended it to me for about 5 years and hyped up to buggery.

Therefore, it was disappointing.

my first reaction to this news was "they're doing an american remake audition and having some pop-rock douche producing?!"

yeah too much hype and it's no good, but if you're only sort of aware of what you're getting yourself into, it's pretty awesome. I was told the gore was unbearable...but it was more the context that was disturbing...easily the best part is the twitching bag of human when that phone rings, hahaha.
