D.R.I, Down By Law, Pink Lincolns, and Hated Youth plan debut as The Spears

Members of DRI, Down By Law, Pink Lincolns and Hated Youth have announced their debut as The Spears. The band will be releasing the fourteen track album in June/July and describe their sound as "hardcore/punk rock with some pop-punk influence."

The band features vocals from Chris Barrows of Pink Lincolns, Sam Williams(Down By Law) on guitar, Rob Rampy(D.R.I) Drums, and Gary Strickland (Hated Youth) performing Bass duties. Tour dates are scheduled for Summer 2009 in support of the release.

Two songs are available on their myspace page.

Pink Lincolns were one of the best ever...fucking great. Saw them in Chapel Hill and they were as good if not more intense live than on record.....Chris & Co. are completely underrated as far as I'm concerned.

Old school.

Chris Barrows is one of the best frontmen ever. It's too bad PL never really made it out of the swamp, they really had it. Still incredible live, though I've only been to hometown shows.

The last time I saw them it was being recorded for release, but PA problems tragically ruined at least 4 or 5 songs. Insane, oversold show in a tiny venue. I wonder if it'll ever see daylight.
