Gaslight Anthem, Rise Against, Alkaline Trio sign guitar for charity auction

A Fender acoustic guitar signed by an array of well known punk rockers incuding members of Rise Against, Alkaline Trio, Gaslight Anthem, Circle Jerks, Street Dogs, T.S.O.L and The Mighty Mighty Bosstones has been put up for auction by SideOneDummy Records. All proceeds from the auction will go to benefit Wheels For Humanity, a charity that refurbishes used wheel chairs, takes them to third world countries and fits them for kids who are permanently disabled.

SideOneDummy also assembles the annual Rock To Roll charity show which aims to raise money for the same charity. The 2008 edition included Alkaline Trio, Gaslight Anthem, Punk Rock Karaoke and Broadway Calls.

I actually know several ecologists who feel that nuclear power could be a viable replacement for 'dirty coal' as the supplementary crutch during the transition toward full-on sustainable energy production.
-Not a bad point. It seems more reasonable than blowing up West Virginia's mountains to extract coal. Uranium will decay to lead faster than the Appalachians will ascend.

Most people have some irrational fear of meltdowns and what not.

Legitimately, there is the notion of dealing with waste, but it's not nearly as big of a problem as its opponents make it out to be.

Widespread implementation would go a long way to reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

As an ecologist first and an activist second, I feel that we need to be realistic with our options. I can't condone or commend the use of nuclear power, given my area of expertise, but it seems to warrant some consideration; given the need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions now, when we don't have the technology to match current energy demands with sustainable alternatives.

It might not be the best option, but we're forced to pick the lesser of 52 evils at this point.

This show was awesome! The punk rock karaoke set was so cool and brian fallon seemed genuinely surprised when allowed to go back on for an encore when the crowd was going nuts.
