Get Up Kids' "Something to Write Home About" vinyl reissue planned

Doghouse Records has announced plans to reissue the Get Up Kids favorite, Something To Write Home About, on vinyl next month. The CD was released ten years ago, on Vagrant Records. Doghouse is promising that only 2000 copies will be made available and that they will be pressed on Opaque Purple vinyl. The record is due out February 17, 2009 and you can pre-order it here.

The disc is the second in a series of vinyl reissues that Doghouse has begun. The label released 1997's Four Minute Mile in December.

No worries, my friend had never left the state of WA until a few years ago, at like 22. He had never even seen the ocean, and that's only a few hours away. Of course, he then preceded to take a cross country road trip and classes in Europe, so fuck him.

Wait till you hear the new release it will BLOW your mind. I haven't heard it yet, but my friend has and she can't stop talking about how they went back to their roots and are trying to reconnect with the fans. I told her "reconnect? I never left! I'm right here!". Oh man, I can wait to see the actual release in the store on the day it comes out. I've been joking with the guy at Target if they got any early ones and if I can have it, he laughed the first couple of times but now when he sees me in his section he avoids me or says he has things to do. You'd think he want to talk, his job looks like it sux. Yellowcard fever!

Anything pre-On A Wire. They lost a LOT of people on that one, including every fellow fan I knew personally. I like the first EP best, the one that starts with "Woodson" and goes by like 4 different names depending on whom you ask.

I taped that too, but I was in college. I remember they actually came in for a sit-down, and they squirmed when the word "emo" was mentioned. I didn't understand it then, but I do now. They had a premonition of the awful connotations that word would come to hold.

Ordered. I have the original Four Minute Mile vinyl release, so might as well add this to the collection.

Man I remember getting this album after school, sitting down in my room and listening to it while doing math homework. That was TEN years ago, holy crap.

Totally just preordered. Such a priceless record. It was expensive as hell on eBay too, so color me stoked about this. The video was included just because it's super badass and every fan of anything remotely punk slash, dare I say, emo should know this album.

you know, i never truly realized how batshit crazy stupid pitchfork is (i never actually looked at the site) until i saw that Something To Write Home About received a rating of 2.0 and the new Weezer album got a 4.7.

that is just evil.

I think I played this album so much in high school when it came out and into college that I don't know if I can ever listen to it again.

The reason i liked this band was for the energy and immediacy they had in early releases. Everything went downhill after Four Minute Mile. This record is boring and sounds uninspired to me.
