Classics of Love, the new band from Jesse Michaels of Operation Ivy and Common Rider have released another new demo from their forthcoming EP.

Check out "Don't Stand Down" on their myspace page.

The band is planning a number of shows in the coming weeks.

This sounds fucking rad . I hear alot of DC influences in their sound. Also, there are two dudes in this band from Shinobu ( Who in my opinion are highly under appreciated around here)

Homework. I need some cool songs with Allusions in them. I've thought Tom Gabel, Fake Problems, Gaslight Anthem... but I'm sure there's better examples.

Um, a million Lawrence Arms songs. The NOFX/Propagandhi thing. All I can think of is Fat examples, which is kind of bothering me, since I don't really listen to much of that stuff anymore, but yeah.

The Portland Show has been moved to The Coop. 3535 n lombard st. It's a bigger house and is run by some really cool people. The local bands on the bill are great as well, Drunken Boat! c'mon!

The Back to the Grind show was SO fun, but I was reallly drunk.

Also, got a ticket to Barack's speech yesterday (way cool) and there is a secret service guy that looks just like Tom Gabel, ears and everything.

I haven't liked either song as much as anything Common Rider or Op Ivy did. But I'll still be buying the album when it comes out. Jesse Michaels can do no wrong... except break-up Common Rider and Op Ivy...

being the bassist in jesse michaels new band must be the most daunting thing ever. Surely most bass players are only there cos they can't play guitar but then everyone looks your way when Jesse walks on stage. "Nothing to live up to" we say...
