Anti-Flag (The Clash), Ataris (The Misfits), Cartel (New Found Glory) added to Hoodwink

The Bamboozle spinoff Hoodwink have announced three additions to the 2009 edition. The event features bands performing cover sets of bands that influenced them. The three additions are Anti-Flag who will cover The Clash, The Ataris who will cover The Misfits and Cartel who will cover New Found Glory.

They join the previously announced lineup wherein Bayside will be tackling NOFX, New Found Glory will be covering Green Day, Set Your Goals will cover Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters, Nirvana), We the Kings will cover Jimmy Eat World and others.

If I remember back to when I listened to the Ataris, I think they had a cover of Astro Zombies. But influence? nope.

Well if you think about it... The Ataris for a long time were a straight ahead melodic punk band, and they're from Jersey... so I'm sure the Misfits are a major influence on them. I don't think there's necessarily a direct influence in their music, but you have to believe the Misfits have been a huge part of their lives.

apparently. haha. i worked a show the ataris played and they did a black flag cover, but of course they covered Rise Above in hopes that SOMEONE in the crowd of twelve people might know the song. It was awful.

Do or Die is better than anything AF could ever even dream of.

DKM are kinda lame now, but they're still a 100 times better than Anti-Flag ever was.

Your band gets put on this festival with a whole bunch of bigger bands that have had success and will bring out tons of people who may have never heard your band. You have the chance to play a whole set covering a band that has made you who you are... to play songs that you grew up on and inspired you to make the music you make... so...

Why the FUCK would you cover Britney Spears, Lil Wayne, or Avril Lavigne? This wave of pop-punk bands doing tongue-in-cheek covers is such a waste of time.

This whole Bamboozle thing is worse than the past few Warped Tours. All it seems to be is just getting all the taste of the week on Alt. Press and whatever teenie boppers listen to. Goddamn... but it's a good way for bands to earn money it seems (the only reason why bands like Face To Face would do it). I also noticed Zach Galifianakis is on it for some fucking reason. Couldn't get Zach Efron?

I am insterested to hear Bayside/NOFX... Mostly because I'm something of a NOFX kick right now and Bayside is horrible.

But, yeah, this whole thing seems like a pretty lame idea. I iPhone/Starbucks customer in me would still probably watch every video I find though.
