Arkells win Galaxie Rising Stars Award

Hamilton, Ontario's Arkells have been awared the 2009 Galaxie Rising Stars Award. Presented by the CBC and Canadian Music Week. The band has been heavily touring since the release of their 2008 full length Jackson Square on Dine Alone Records. The connections that the band has made with fans on the road was cited as a major reason for their win.

CBC Radio 3 spoke with keyboardist Dan Griffin about the honour.

"Oh, the Boss is Coming!" is on the radio so much... but it's cool because technically these guys never "sold out", they were just always gonna be big and that's that. They also put out a great album.
