Green Day plans club show to celebrate release

Green Day has announced a single club show at New York's Bowery Ballroom on May 18, just three days after the release of the band's eighth studio album, 21st Century Breakdown on May 15, 2009 reports MTV Germany.

The band also performed some small club gigs in their hometown of San Francisco this past week, including a show at the 500-capacity DNA Lounge. According to the New York Times' ArtsBeat blog, the band played "21st Century Breakdown" in its entirety before running through a set of older material.

I would have wanted to back when they were playing small clubs but not anymore. I'd imagine any small clubs they play now are filled to capacity with people who paid out the ass for tickets or sat outside the venue since 5am the week before. The Venue is probably stuff and probably over stuffed as anyone who works there has pulled as many of their own friends in as possible. Not to mention bands like Green Day have become reliant on big stages and big production shows. I don't know how they'd act in a small, ordinary stage.

Also, the parking situation at the independent SUCKS!

Saw them play at Liberty Lunch in Austin with Superdrag in 97, and that place only held about 300.
Also saw them back at the showcase in 93 in San Antonio with Seaweed and Bad Religion, which was about almost 1000. Hardly remember that show though...

I saw the same tour in '97 at the Murat in Indianapolis. The place wasn't even close to capacity. That was such an awesome show. It's funny, I saw the Promise Ring, the Ataris and JEW at the same place in 2001 maybe, and there were WAY more people at that show.

They are supposed to play two more shows out here in The Bay, i believe in Oakland.

ALSO, Damn, So, I really want to get tickets to see The Pharcyde @ The Fillmore, and they are only doing this show so far and nothing else is booked, but the tickets are 35 bucks with a 12 dollar surcharge. It's on a Saturday too... should I go?

I love the Pharcyde and the Fillmore is a pretty decent bigger venue but that's a fucking ton of money. I actually kind of doubt it will sell out if you want to get tickets at the door.

I thought the same thing, but I wasn't sure... I didn't want to see them at Rock The Bells last year because I hate big crowds like that, but the Fillmore is a great place, and that's why I think it would, not to mention it's on a saturday, and everyone will be out, pretty much

Weird that they did it at DNA lounge too, because that place is the full on Industrial/Goth place...but they play great music sometimes, but that staff look like a bunch of Al Jourgesen wannabees

I remember when Warning came out they had a whole to-do on mtv. Did they do that with American Idiot? I also remember buying Warning at a Virgin Megastore after an LTJ show at House of Blues in downtown disney.
