Fishbone, Supersuckers, Death, unreleased solo recordings at 2009 Joey Ramone Birthday Bash

The 9th annual Joey Ramone Birthday Bash will take place this Tuesday, May the 19th at the Fillmore in New York's Irving Plaza. The event, which would have been the late Ramones' frontman's 58th birthday, will preview new unreleased Joey Ramone solo recordings for guests. Rough mixes of the tracks, slated for a posthumous album release later this year, are being worked on by a number of producers, including long time Ramones collaborator Ed Stasium.

The night will feature headlining sets by Fishbone and the Supersuckers. Once again the night will be headlined by supergroup The Friends Of Joey featuring Richie Ramone, Handsome Dick Manitoba (of the Dictators), Jean Beauvoir, Ivan Julian (of Richard Hell and The Voidoids), George Tabb, Al Maddy and Joey's brother Mickey Leigh. The event will also see sets from Death, Rough Francis, Uncle Monk (featuring Tommy Ramone), Bebe Buell, and Tom Clark & The High Action Boys. Musician Tracy Thornton will greet guests with renditions of Ramones tunes on the steel drum, and Sean O'Sullivan's Punk Pipers will wrap up the night. This year's MCs will be Matt Pinfield and Peter Aschner.

Joey Ramone passed away in April of 2001 after a seven-year battle with lymphoma.

onetime i was at a show at Spaceland and I took a piss and I looked over and Matt Pinfield was pissing next to me.

having spent 99% of my life in LA and NYC i've had a lot of celebrity sightings, but that was definitely the best of all of them.

i think they are talking about the protopunk band from detroit in the 70's. strange but their singer is also dead so i'm not sure how that's going to work. i think its actually going to be the other guys' kids band playing their songs

And What The Fuck? Why is the party in New York, and his statue is in L.A.??

Other than Please Kill Me (which doesn't really count) I've never read a book that does the Ramones justice. It seems to me almost every retrospective about them that wasn't the documentary is some shoddy cash-in by some hanger on.

If by that you mean watch the Wings dominate in every facet of the game, you would be correct. If Kahbibulin didn't play so well, the Wings would have scored double digits. I Lol'd a lot watching the Blackhawks choke on a giant dick the entire game.

one major upside of american idiot 2 is that i can walk outside to get my laundry when a song starts and come back and it's still going and i haven't missed much.
