Blink-182 to unveil new song on tour

While they have ruled out any new release prior to their upcoming comeback tour, Blink 182 are promising at least one brand new song on the run, reports Billboard. According to guitarist/vocalist Tom Delonge:

[The song has] got a little bit of (Pink) Floyd, a little bit of Rush, a little bit of blink in there. It's crazy, but it somehow sounds exactly like where we left off (in 2005). It's an amazing song.

Delonge is promising that the band will not be incorporating the seriousness of his other project, Angels and Airwaves noting:

The talks this morning were hot to incorporate the word 'fuck' in such a way that it somehow is parallel if not better than when it was lit on fire 10 years ago. I remember on the very first song of some of these larger tours we did, when the big Fuck sign lit on fire, parents would stand up and walk their kids out, A DJ explained it really good to me once; 'I tell my kid it's not bad if it's art. If you're not doing art, you can't say words like that.' I thought that was a really good way to handle it.

If you mix those three bands, you pretty much get Angels and Airwaves.

I used to love Pink Floyd and other "classic rock bands" in early high school. It was the thing to do. I guess it still is. In early college, they just started to irritate the hell out of me. I was so fed up with AC/DC t-shirts everywhere. I still am. I hate AC/DC if only for that reason. Now, in late college, I can put up with classic rock, and even appreciate it, but I'm not much of a fan at all. If I need old music, 60s folk is where its at. Oh, and The Ramones/The Clash. And Motown.

Oh, and screw Pink Floyd shirts with the "Dark Side of the Moon" prism on them. And screw myself for owning two of them in high school. ARGH

What's annoying about people that are "really into classic rock" is that they have no idea who bands like Blind Faith were, but as soon as Sweet Home Alabama comes on they go apeshit.

The only thing that pink Floyd and AC/DC have in common is that they both have guitars in their songs.

If you can't appreciate albums like Obscured by Clouds or songs such as Echoes or both parts of Shine On You Crazy Diamond I feel sorry for you.

Yeah, you can't really lecture me, Syd Barrett fan, because I had all of their albums, for the most part. I think I even had a "Symphonic Tribute" album. They were my favorite band in high school, save for some of junior and senior year, when the old punky side of my music taste returned. As I said above, I still appreciate them, but it just got to be too much. They're a good band, but not as good as they're played off to be, in my opinion. I think they just sell a lot of t-shirts nowadays. That's the sad reality of it.

And sadly, an obnoxious and stupid band like AC/DC does get shuffled into "classic rock" with Pink Floyd. Thats not really something I want, but they really do get clumped together.

a) Overrated
b) Part of an irritating "classic rock" movement among America's youth
c) On too many t-shirts lately

I think they make catchy pop-rock songs. Like Green Day. Hate? Not quite. Do I own any of their albums? No.

Oh, but I really like Angels and Airwaves. I don't know why. I guess it's a guilty pleasure. They can write some pretty catchy, anthemic stuff, then switch right back into something more mellow. I dig.

Yes. And ever since their reunion their fucking fans have really been coming out of the woodwork.

What the fuck, seriously? I know they were popular in high school because they were that band who had the video where they ran around naked but there are quite a few people really stoked about this reunion stuff that I would have never guessed (yes, even punknews).

I've never been a fan, either. Their brand of humor never struck me as... humorous and their music isn't anything special. Travis can drum, so what? He stands out because the guitar and vocal work is so boring. I can't understand how any over 14 years old can appreciate this kind of material, nostalgia or not.

do you know what they were in context? they talked about neo-nazism, the cold war, were against capitalism...and all of those things are still pertinent today (well maybe not the cold war). they had forward-thinking music. the wall and animals are crazy and have influenced a TON of musicians, even to this day.
