Mike Dirnt, bassist of Green Day, has designed his own shoe. The 45 RPM Schubert is to be produced by vegan shoe company, Macbeth. The shoe is black with brass lace loops and is animal-product free.
You can find the shoes here.

I really don't get this musicians-designing-shoes fad. But this is at least a bit less objectionable than most others' (e.g., Billie Joe, Alk3, Rise Against, etc) dealings - the shoe is vegan and Macbeth actually has slightly better labour standards than the majority of shoe companies.

What the fuck is a vegan shoe? I wasn't aware my Chucks somehow forced me to ingest animal secretions. This makes no sense. 1+ Reply

the best thing to do with these is strap them on then kick (literally) kick a cow to death. Then don't go buy the new green day album, ever. 1+ Reply

So wait... up until now vegans have been wearing shoes that required the death of an animal in order for it to be manufactured?

I'm blown away by the number of people who are struggling with the concept of vegan shoes. 2+ Replies

By 'designed' they really mean 'picked the ones he liked the most/pointed out first out of the 4 different variations of the same crap that their design team came up with', right?

Jesus titty fuckin christ. The man is making an effort for a good cause. Fuck your dietary preferences, the issue is sustainable development. Props to Mike, for taking a stand and doing something with it. Anyone wear Keens? Same Shit.
