Mike Dirnt (Green Day) designs vegan shoe

Mike Dirnt, bassist of Green Day, has designed his own shoe. The 45 RPM Schubert is to be produced by vegan shoe company, Macbeth. The shoe is black with brass lace loops and is animal-product free.

Converse is owned by Nike, who is obviously known for their abhorrent labour standards, and Vans is almost as bad. At least Macbeth strives for some semblance of corporate responsibility with their products/labour standards (though they're still by no means good).

I really don't get this musicians-designing-shoes fad. But this is at least a bit less objectionable than most others' (e.g., Billie Joe, Alk3, Rise Against, etc) dealings - the shoe is vegan and Macbeth actually has slightly better labour standards than the majority of shoe companies.

Only once. A pair of macbeth elliots. I wore them to skate maybe five times before I tore a hole in the side and the stitching was already coming undone. But you're right I shouldn't judge all vegan shoes based on that. But still, these are ugly as fuck.
