Media: Dead Swans: "Ivy Archway"

British hardcore band Dead Swans have posted a new song. The song comes from their new 4-song EP, It's Starting. The EP features two songs from the band's forthcoming Bridge Nine Records debut, Sleepwalkers and two covers of Black Flag and My Bloody Valentine.

Do hardcore bands these day just put some form of the word "Dead" then follow it up with any other word in the English language to form a name?

It's kinda like putting "ska" in random phrases to let people know your band plays ska.

No I haven't heard it yet. I'm seeing them in concert tomorrow. I'm hoping they'll be selling the album there, even though it hasn't streeted yet.

D: Rx Bandits was one of Drive-Thru’s first bands. Why did you part ways with the label?

ME: Let me put it this way: I’m not allowed to tell you because I could be sued by Drive-Thru for pretty much all that I have. It’s in our contract that to get out of our contract, none of us can talk about them, so you can just imagine what sorts of terrible things happened and how much money they still owe us and the rest of the people on their label.

I've gave the first few songs a spin so far. I'm a huge fan up to Resignation where my interest starting leveling off, so my view may be a bit skewed. Anyways track 1 is worth the price alone, sort of a ska/reggae tinged harder rock number. Tracks 2-4 sound like ATBB, more ambient jam type stuff. Track 5 is a reggae jam song. Then I started falling asleep for the next two tracks, they dragged the fuck on. Track 8 is another reggae song, pretty damn good. I haven't heard any horns so far, or maybe I missed it since I'm at work. So take that for what you will. Hope it helped.

Seeing "Swans" as a part of any title gets me pumped....until I realize it isn't quite who I was expecting. I've only heard one song from this band (the one on the sampler) and it is solid.....we'll see.....
