Green Day to play "Rock Band 2" online Friday

Green Day has announced plans to play Rock Band 2 competitively against Xbox LIVE Gold Members beginning on Friday. To join the game, members need to send a friend request to "Green Day GWF 1" and be online half an hour before (5:30 P.M. ET) the Game with Fame session starts on Friday, July 24, 6:00 P.M. ET.

Here's what they need to do to repair the Thrice leak situation:

Get the band back in a studio and record 3 or 4 new songs. Don't show these songs to anyone, no promotional shit, nothing. Put them on the end of the album as b-sides or whatever, and release all 13 or 14 digitally in August. People will buy it because it's not as long of a wait as October would be so the temptation to settle for the leak isn't as large. And there's the extra songs.

i still don't entirely understand these games. so instead of teaching you how to play a real guitar, you're just using your hand-eye coordination to tap a little button on the fretboard whenever it lights up on the screen.

i'd rather see a real guitar game that teaches you how to play songs on real instruments, while incorporating the scoring, etc. of guitar hero, rock band, whatever.

it isn't about that it is about having a game to play with your bros at a gathering AND the musical aspect makes you feel superior in a realm you otherwise not be might not be that strong in even if it is only an illusion.

it just bugs me that i'm still trying to learn guitar after 6 years of off/on playing, and i can do simple chords and play some songs by ear, but yet i can't do guitar hero at all because i'm too slow and uncoordinated to follow the fucking flashing lights.

i feel like randy marsh in that episode.

Oh I dislike the idea too but I never undertood playing sports games or ones about raising a puppy either. If I'm going to play a video game it is going to be fantastical outlandish adventure....like Leisure Suit Larry.

Seriously. It's for lazy nerds. I mean, when I was a kid I actually flew to the Unitedd Kingdom in an attempt to save the Princess. But lacking mad plumbing skills, I wasn't able to make it in time and the car accident happened. It was all game over from there.

The company that originally made Guitar Hero now makes Rock Band and sold the ownership of Guitar Hero. Therefore, both games can continue being made. There's other really low budget ones out there too. EA never sues 2K or visa versa for the sports games.
