The Methadones to release new 7"

It's Alive Records will be releasing a new 7" from The Methadones entitled Gary Glitter on August 25, 2009. The record can be pre-ordered from Interpunk at this page.

The band last released a split with The Copyrights in 2008.

i had a 20% off coupon (now expired) and i didn't get the "first" volume of grant morrison's doom patrol because i saw it started with issue 18 or 19, or whenever morrison started his run. bad decision? i could probably still get it for 30% off if i wanted because i still know everybody at the store. but still.

Animal Man is fun. His Superman was really good. I loved his run with JLA. I'm waiting to find out when his Miracleman shit may get reprinted

the filth is one of those "loser finds out he's part of a secret supervillain organization" stories, but the details are what makes it. the guy basically spends his days beating off and taking care of his cat. i know too many people like that.

if i didn't hate superman, i'd check out the all-star series. i love the new morrison/quitely batman and robin, with grayson as the slightly nebbishly, light-hearted batman and damian as hardcore angsty robin.

wasn't miracleman alan moore?

Morrison followed up on Alan Moore's run.

I'm waiting for the Batman/Robin to be collected in a trade. I tried to find a working torrent to read it, but I failed. Is it really that good?

I'll follow up on The Filth.

As for Allstar Superman, I'm not Superman fan and it's a great read.

morrision's batman/robin is markedly different from the continuity stuff. it's more lighthearted (think if peter parker was batman minus about half the guilt), and the still-tentative dynamic between grayson and damian is fun to watch. it's like seeing a mentor earn a troubled kid's trust, when the kid thinks he's a tough guy, thinks he knows everything, etc. it's a little too much to see grayson brooding and bitching about how "i'm not batman! bruce was batman! i can't replace him!" the new bad guys that have cropped up in the wake of bruce wayne's absence are pretty fucked up too, in a kinda whimsical "alice in wonderland" way. there's like carnival-themed villains and whatnot.

quitely's art is great, it's really cartoony but a lot of texture to it, almost like geof darrow's stuff. the only thing i don't like is the flying batmobile. yeah, you heard me. grayson and dami

You feel the same about Superman as I do. Allstar Superman is really fun, check it out. I'm pretty sure the trade just came out
