Media: Brand New: "At the Bottom"

Brand New have posted the first single from their upcoming album. You can stream "At the Bottom" on their MySpace page. The song is set to be officially released tomorrow.

The album it's taken from, Daisy, is due out September 22.

This is one of my favorite bands, not a huge fan of this song.

Devil and God wasn't something I liked at first, then it grew on me and I love it TONS. We'll see what happens.

In that case, I will say this. Although I have seldom listened to this band, I think it's a little hypocritical of people to complain about Brand New sounding like one other band when they will listen to dozens of generic punk bands who sound like hundreds of others. Broadway Calls, anybody?

This is not a call out or an attack. I don't think a band has to sound completely unique if they can use an established formula to produce something enjoyable, but despite the heavy Modest Mouse influence, this sounds a lot more unique than many orgcore bands.

This post is too long. I need a life. Or alcohol. Or both.

I made the first Modest Mouse accusation. And the only reason this sounds "more unique" than other orgcore bands is because no one else is dumb enough to copy Modest Mouse. And Broadway Calls is a terrible pile of audio tube steak.

musically its awesome. the lyrics are kind of lazy though, makes me wonder if vinnie wrote them. i definately liked this song better than i liked sowing season the first time i heard it.

the "serve you drugs on a silver plate" line is really cool.

The first time I heard sowing season was in its demo form and it was ok. When I heard the album version for the first time I was wowed.

awesome. fuck the haters of this band, and also fuck the haters of Lolla..i just got back from the 3 day binge drink/drug weekend and I had a blast. everyone played awesome, my standout fav's were Gaslight, Band of Horses, Vampire Weekend, Kings of Leon (yup..i said it), atmosphere, silversun pickups, langhorne slim, manchester orchestra, tool, dan aurbach, ben folds, decemberists, los campensinos!, animal collective, cold war kids, and more im too tired to type.

They can be hit or miss live,I saw them once in a club and once at a festival. The club show was amazing. Sometimes they space out way too much and only actually play a few songs which is a shame because their songwriting has greatly improved.Still totally worth checking out though especially in a club setting and if you're fucked off your head!

Let's hope for Brand New's sake that this is the only song that features an impression of Isaac Brock.

I love Modest Mouse, but I'd hate to see this record get buried under criticisms about it sounding too much like them.

I'm not sure about the song just yet, but I think this record is going to be a real grower. I found myself really enjoying certain parts of this song right away.

The band just have really long and boring songs. They put me to sleep.

I'm more into louder faster stuff like The Steal, Daggermouth, Hit the Switch, even mid tempo stuff like The Loved Ones and The Draft. But this stuff is just... no.

Medium tempo is even too slow for me about 40% of the time. I prefer fast.

That being said, my musical taste has been expanding the last couple of months, particularly in the direction of slower music.

I don't like fast music at all usually. I like music that becomes fast at times, but music that is called "fast music" just bugs the shit out of me. The drumming for fast punk stuff is always the exact same, the songs blaze by with nothing interesting to them... blech.
