Ignite vocalist to fill in for Pennywise temporarily

Ignite vocalist Zoli Teglas has been tapped to temporarily fill the vacant position in Pennywise. Teglas will be taking the place of longtime Pennywise singer Jim Lindberg who departed in August 2009. As of right now, the vocalist has only been confirmed for the two day Smokeout Festival set for October 23 and 24 and also set to include Slipknot, Deftones, Cypress Hill, Kottonmouth Kings, Bad Brains, Method Man/Red Man and a recently reunited Sublime.

Teglas is looking forward to playing with Pennywise and their hometown So Cal fans adding, "I'm stoked to be singing these upcoming shows with Pennywise. I'm a huge fan of the band and am super grateful to share the stage with my long time friends Fletcher, Byron, and Randy. "

If Zoli became full-time vocalist, with a few tweaks musically Pennywise can totally become relevant today by bridging their old sound with today's more metal sound. Sounds like a win to me!

No, not at all. With the exception of that one record on TVT (which a lot of people here seem to like but was their blatant attempt to get on the radio) their music has always been melodic hardcore/punk.

They should put out special editions of ALL Pennywise albums with Zoli singing instead as the guys voice is amazing and would take Pennywise to new heights. I just hope the band doesn't make him imitate Jim and lets Zoli go all out like he does in Ignite!

I think PW continuing without Jim is stupid, but if anyone could make it work it would be Zoli. I would pay so much to be able to see these shows

I don't know...it kind of makes sense.

Zoli has a great voice, but this isn't Ignite. He's going to have to sing the songs similarly to Jim, but in his own voice. I think it may be a great choice. I may even start listening to pennywise again if he becomes permanent.

Make a documentary film based on his excellent "Punk Rock Dad" book. I predict Jim will fail to be able to live off the income and will either (a) rejoin PW, (b) join a new band, or (c) get a regular 9-5 job...

This is a fucking brilliant idea, I was litterally stumped on who they would pick and who would actually work, and if you think about it, it might be cool. I think if you think hard on it and they focussed more on s/t to full cirlce material it could be awesome. Even though most of you are trashing this idea, I for one would love to see this.

This is such good news. Of all the vocalists to take over, Zoli is the perfect fit. Hopefully this turns into a full time thing
