Deep Elm signs Goonies Never Say Die

Deep Elm Records has signed Blackpool, England instrumental act Goonies Never Say Die. The band's ten song, 50 minute debut In A Forest Without Trees has been released by the label on digital music services worldwide. You can check out the band over at MySpace.

This is the second of 12 planned new releases from Deep Elm. The Charlotte, NC based label returned from a hiatus earlier this summer.

Man I had to fire somebody today, it wasn't my choice, and I feel really bad about the situation. This dude has a home, wife, and a baby girl. What the fuck is he going to do now? Fuck, what a shitty way to start the day. I feel really really bad, you see bad things happen to good people.

OK dude, I get your witty comment, but times are really hard right now. This guy has a kid to raise, so atleast have a little bit of sympathy. It really sucked for me to tell him the bad news. I hate having to do this type of shit, but it's part of my job.

Never had to fire someone but I've been part of the decision to do so. It's hard, I like the guy and he had a kid and shit. But my feeling is I want to keep them here, but I want them to do their job too. If you can't do that, why are we paying you? There's a million people in the same boat who lost their job for reasons beyond their control, they deserve a job as much as this dude.

I work at a chemical plant, Chevron Phillips, yeah I know but I have a family to raise and the job pays really good. I don't work around kids, I work with adults that have families so it's really hard to tell somebody that we don't need them anymore. What really sucks is that, the dude did his job but the company is going through a big layoff right now. As if Chevron doesn't make enough money, fucking makes me sick.

All Deep Elm is releasing these days is post-rock bands. I guess thats what has become of real emo bands 10 years later.

Tron > Goonies, if just for the Holy Shit I Am Stoneddddddd factor.

Most movies from the 80's that our generation remembers fondly is shit. The Neverending Stoy made me want to kill myself out of sheer boredom.
