Members of Screeching Weasel, Rise Against, Common Rider unveil Torture The Artist

Members of Screeching Weasel, Rise Against and Common Rider have joined up with vocalist Jorge Orillac - the nephew of the President of Panama - to release a record as Torture the Artist. The album wasproduced by Mass Giorgini (Rise Against, Alkaline Trio, Anti-Flag) and promises "minor key melodic punk rock anthems in the spirit of Alkaline Trio, to psychobilly-tinged rockers a la Living End, to straight-up pop-punk sing-alongs reminiscent of Green Day."

Their self-titled debut was released on Go Kart Records. Check out some music on their MySpace page.

I was about to say the same thing about the millencolin comparison but its really only the first song. Don't know about system of a down though, i'm not getting that. This isn't too bad though.

Caught my attention until you mentioned Greenday. Its not 1992 or 1994 even, cant you just say " we are trying something new that sounds like nothing you've heard before." If you cant say that then why should we listen.

Given the diverse amount of bands out today, it would be near impossible to make music that didn't sound like another band. If you are a new band, why would it be a bad thing to say "If you like band X, you might like us since our music is similar." ?

Also, their myspace says it was put out in June (on Kid Tested Records, not go-kart). Interpunk just lists when they start selling it. Let's not fight. Can't we work this out with a backrub?

I have actually been waiting for this record, because of the members in the band, and based on their MySpace songs. It was supposed to be released in June, but for whatever reason, it was delayed. When it was put on Interpunk last week, I ordered the CD, but it only shipped out to me today. The record was not out in June, it is a brand new release.

This is hilarious. I love it when some hired guns try to use their past bands to make it seem like their new band is something special. No emotion, just the normal polished crap. Oh well, at least some people will get a laugh out of it. And it's on Kid Tested, not Go Kart. It's a sub label.
