Screeching Weasel announce Chicago show

Screeching Weasel have announced another one-off show, this one in their original hometown of Chicago, IL. The band will be performing at Reggie's on February 26th, 2010 with support from Lemuria and The Seething Coast (ex-Resident Genius).

In today's metal scene, most bands don't have the backbone needed to exhibit what real heavy music is all about. Detroit, Michigan's SCREECHING WEASEL isn't most bands. The sheer magnitude of SCREECHING WEASEL'S furious sound is so uncompromising and so monstrous you'll be checking under your bed for circle pits before you go to sleep at night. SCREECHING WEAS---aaahfuckit.

It surprises me how often people complain about ticket prices. Not that it's bad or anything, it's just that everyone I've ever talked to about it seems to think it's really high, and I never had a problem paying $30 or so to see a band I actually care about. Maybe it's because I only go to a few shows a year, it must not hit me as hard.

but taht much for an opening band length set seems high, if they were headlining I'd for sure spend that much on a band I cared about.

Yeah. I mean I've paid $50 for The Stooges, but that was an hour and a half long set and I got a Mike Watt bear hug out of it. If that guy's going just for Lemuria it's way better to just wait, especially with how often they come through town. It seems like they're here at least three times a year.

I think his complaint isn't about the ticket price, it's that this first guy is going to pay the whole ticket price to see one of the opening bands play a 30-minute set.

most of the shows i go to are 10 or less. when i see bigger bands, i dont complain. except the fact that i had to pay 100 dollars to brand new and glassjaw tickets for my girl and i. it was last night too, good show. i havent seen glassjaw since i was 15.

You crazy. When I saw SW earlier this year they played almost everything I wanted to hear and they kicked ass. Fuck all the Ben Weasel drama. The songs sounded good and I had fun.

If you want to just see Lemuria you should go see them at the Halloween House in Indiana on January 11th, it'll be a lot cheaper and in a much cooler place.

I don't think Reggie's is a bad venue by any means but if I was going just to see Lemuria I'd say take the drive out to Indiana and see them headline a kick ass basement show over playing with Screeching Weasel where they'll only play for 30 minutes and where most of the old timer SW crowd will probably not give a shit about Lemuria.

Seeing Ben Weasel live in his full narcissistic glory ruined Screeching Weasel for me.

Also, I don't think it counts as true Screeching Weasel without Jughead, but that's my opinion.

Kids with leather jackets are stoked. They'll be jerking each other off in the front row.

the only song i ever liked by Ben Weasel was, i think, called "cool kids". it was so fun to sing back in high school in my '92 mustang convertible.
