Our stream today features the brand new split 7-inch from Run For Cover Records pop-punk bands, Transit and Man Overboard. The four song split features two songs apiece from the bands.

Not really liking these Transit songs that much, which sucks... I love most of their stuff.

Also, am I hearing autotune? Or some generally weird ass vocal effects?

Yeah this second song of theirs is officially awful.

yeah, it sounds like this whole split, Transit and Man Overboard, was auto-tuned the fuck out of.

just goes to show the huge difference between good and bad production

I haven't listened to the Man Overboard songs yet (and I'm with most of you on how much I've liked their other stuff), but I am fucking floored by how great "Riding the Bullet" is. It might be the best song they've written yet. I listened to it 5 more times in a row after the first time, and I haven't done that in years with a new song. "Please, Head North" is also really good. I can't imagine any fan of Transit's other work not loving these songs.

And while I'm blathering, can someone please tell me how you can hear the intricacies of a song's production when it's streaming at (presumably) 128 kbps or less? Of course it sounds like shit like that. Wait until you hear the real thing before making snap judgements like that.

Transit fanboy, out.

I realized after listening to it again on my cross state drive last night (and remebering that you're also a fanboy before you said it) that you probably have a point about the production on this one, so I stand corrected on that. I'm a huge fan of Daniel's drumming, and the drums sound a little flat and low in the mix. Hopefully they'll re-record these for their next album/EP release.

Duly noted on the MO song. I still haven't gotten around to checking those out. If you say it's surprising then I'm even more apt to give it a shot.

yeah the second MO song just seems less sugary than their other shit (which I also like) and they actually spent some time writing it

They recorded these songs themselves and both bands usually go to pro studios to record so these songs don't sound quite up to snuff like their usual stuff.
