Ughhh I have a hard enough time keeping up with all of Facebook's stupid biweekly redesigns.

Constructive criticism: not a fan of the fat black borders on the left and right. The site would look so much better with a small black border like there is at the top of the screen. In other words, stretch everything out to make it bigger/fit the page more.

Other than than, great job.

I like how you can see all of the comments. Looks good! Although that Superman costume change was a horrible, horrible idea.

Another thing, maybe have an edit option like at digg.com, where a person has a set amount of time to edit his or her comment.

I used BETA for a while but switched back for one main reason: I miss the record label icons. Bring those back, and maybe fix the background, and I'll be fine. Also, band of the moment should definitely be higher up. Like where contests is.

My sister just asked for Ratitude for Christmas. Not looking forward to going to the store and picking that up.

Also, I just got the first two Grant Morrison JLA hardcovers so I've seen a lot of 'Blue Superman' over the weekend.

I dig design, but something about the navigation bar at the top isn't sitting right with me.

Also, when commenting on this, the text is too close to the Superman graphic, add a little padding there so that it matches the main page look.

I'm not a fan of the big bars, but I do like the fixed width.

Longtime reader, seldom commenter here.

I see that you definitely have some room in the nav bar up top to add a little more space between each nav item. Right now they are a little bit bunched together, which makes it difficult to read individual items (ex. I thought "submit" and "news" were two separate links).

Two new featured that I really like are the additional pages of older news at the bottom (Page: 1 2 3 4... Next) and also the helpful footer links that appear below that.

Hopefully, like Superman, everyone will realize how completely unnecessary this change was and go back to the original.

V6 should all be in Mandarin. It's the future.

Fixed width is fine. As for subject headers leaving, I know you aren't a message board, but it was easier to keep up with stuff like navel gazing.

Why was the the section with the news headlines on the right side removed? It was much easier to peruse through the last few days worth of news just looking at the headlines. Now you have to scroll through each day to get caught up on old news.

Not much of an issue, but does the fine print bit need to be at the top? Would be less in the way (not that it's hugely in the way) at the bottom of the page.

There is about an inch of screen that is not being used on my left side of the screen. Why?

This makes reading comments a lot easier.

Having to go to the top of the comments to add one yourself is kind of annoying. But is that a leftover from the old design? I already can't remember.

The features thing is a nice touch though, and the overall look is very nice and clean. Cool stuff.

Really like the new design. Sleek looking. From a design perspective, I would sat that the story headlines are a touch too large. It's a bit imposing. Other than that, I really like it.

My only complaint actually... i don't like having every reply displayed out, i kinda liked the old style where replies were condensed into links, so when a successful troll has a 15 message exchange with someone i don't have to scroll down for days to get passed it. Just a thought. Otherwise I like it.

New look, just as many Weezer and new Alkaline Trio/Anti-Flag/Against Me! haters. What do you expect on a site full of kids who grew up listening to music telling them they can say whatever they want?

the ad on the top goes all the way to the left of the page when the punknews section doesn't, it looks pretty weird.

I feel like that sidebar width is way too wide. Otherwise it's a pretty clean layout.

All in all, I like it, and I think its cool that you guys aren't content to stay stagnant, but there are some minor things:
the "features" pictures on the right move so fast I can't read and click before the next one shows up. Its kinda dizzying.
Also, it might just be my computer, but I have to use the scroll bar along the bottom of the screen to see posts in their entirety.
And I think someone else said this, but I'm not a big fan of the fat black margins. Maybe scale it down?

One thing I liked with the news stories was having the appropriate label logo there too... It kind of drew my attention to those labels/bands that I cared about the most.

It's different, but I'm sure I'll get used to it. I remember during the last design change I was confused as to why the top corners in the story box were rounded and the bottom were sharp. Clearly got over that.

This is probably asking way too much, but it'd be cool if the "happening now" feature was city/region specific. I'd like to know who was playing my town in case I somehow missed it.

something i've always wanted is the ability to search punknews on firefox via the upper-right hand search box that can search google/wikipedia/ebay/etc.

Is that a possiblity?

Looks slick, but I feel like there's tons of wasted space everywhere. Huge pictures and headers, small text and empty patches everywhere. The site barely takes up 2/3 of my screen width now. I'm using FF 3.5 on Linux so it's possible it just looks odd for me, though. Plus I'm using NoScript and Adblock which might account for all the empty space.

I was just talking with a friend about how Punknews needs to have the older news linked at the bottom of the front page. Nice. I agree with the bit about the boarders. Totally too large and unnecessary. Just dead space. Also, I hate the rotating feature bit. It's too flashy and ADDish. "Band of the Moment' already put too many ugly images on the main page, now they're rotating.

Is the idea of the "happening now" ticker to have links that don't necessarily need a full story posted? I like it, but it would be cool if there was also a separate page so you could read all of them together instead of waiting for it to update each time.

I think it's a little too crammed now that it's got the black on each side. Maybe offer a stretched version, please? Also, I reaaaaaalllllllllyy miss the old headlines on the bottom right side. It helped me keep up with the stories I missed.

STAFF CONCERNS:
Yo adam and punknews. As a staff member, I miss the staff button. None of us (besides like brian) have one on their profile anymore. Also, is there anyway we can get staff icons on reviews too?

Also, none of the recent staff has been added to the "about section."

READING CONCERNS:
The comments are soo long, i have to scroll the bottom bar to see the whole comment.

The look and feel is nice and slick. No problem there.

From a design point of view switching from adjustable width to fixed width greatly limits the amount of display space for widescreen users, now squeazing all content downwards. So your Width is now very valuable. It's usually a tradeoff, style vs amount of content displayed. Punknews' strenght has always been the content. Don't squeeze it, show it.

From an integrator's point of view, a lot of space is lost in the 300px + 4px padding (column on the right), and all the margin (blue area around the comments). Lighten up on some of the margin and padding in general. Try .comment {margin:0.5em;} for starters.

Re-Designing an established website is not an easy task. For those complaining, give it a chance, it can only get better.

man, I really liked the review layout the old version had, with the cover n' stuff being on the right hand side. it was awesome. now it just looks like every other site out there. iit's probably only me, but it somehow makes it uncomfortable to look at. bummed.

I don't like it. But that's because I have a 24 inch widescreen monitor, and the old layout fitted itself perfectly into the screen which was awesome. This is less than half the width of the full screen, centred. It looks like something from 6 years ago. Also, the typefaces look like a bag of shit in Safari.

I don't know if this has been mentioned, but I think the happening now section should have a back button. A bunch of times already I saw a headline i was interested in, but by the time I was ready to click on it it was gone.

So to get to the "My Account" feature you now have to click on the tiny link that says "logged in as.."?

I almost freaked out when I thought that the My Account feature had been eliminated..to me its enormously useful for navigating the comment sections of long topics

good lord, i have been dreading this day for months.

Don't know if these glitches have been mentioned, and I'm way to lazy to check if it has. First one I noticed is that when you unmaximize a window (I use Ubuntu and cannot for the life of me remember what unmaximize is in windows speak) or if you use sidebars, the round corner that's located at the top right of the banner gets pushed to the top right of the nav bar. Second glitch, is in the postcomment page. Below the nav bar, everything overflows to the right, so that you end up with a black bar to the left, but the content keeps going to the edge of the screen on the right.
