Pathology (ex-The Locust) signs to Victory Records

Death metal act Pathology has signed to Victory Records. The band was notably formed by drummer Dave Astor of spazz/hardcore outfit The Locust and vegan militants, Cattle Decapitation. The band previously released the demo Surgically Hacked, the full length, Incisions Of Perverse Debauchery and their second full length, Age Of Onset, this year.

i never understood how anybody could enjoy The Locust. I also can't imagine anybody from The Locust working with Victory.

also. i just bought tickets to see Murder City Devils in NYC. it's been a long, long time. i'm pretty amped.

Eh, I liked that they were basically a band that had no rules. Also, I imagine they were insane to see live. That said, I couldn't ever sit down and listen to one of their albums.

I have seen them with Daughters a few different times. I agree on all points. I own a lot records from these guys and it is next to impossible to actually listen to one.

Either way, would have loved this band when I was 16.

Daughters last album was different..like a ripoff of Arab On Radar almost. Their earlier stuff was hard to listen to I agreee, but Hell Songs was actually pretty good IMO

It has a lot of great riffs, it had potential, but unfortunately, Lex's voice was very lame. From what I understand, the new record will completely redeem Hell Songsl.

I liked it. I think if you have preconceptions about it, then sure you'll think its lame. But take it as it is and I felt it was pretty good. I listen to it more than Arab On Radar personally.

As someone with more than one Locust tattoo I'm just gonna say:
*What's the main thing first time listeners are impressed by when they hear The Locust? The drummer, and this guy is the guy who got kicked out for the current drummer to move from guitar to drums. Also, he's sketchy as fuck and has been jocking the ex-Locust/Cattle Decapitation tags ever since.

*Listen to Plague Soundscapes from start to finish and you'll see how wrong you are. If not, you're just super close-minded.

Soundscapes is my favorite record by the band, I want to say I have outgrown them? Or I just have a way different taste in music. I used to love anything Justin put out.

no. you're not great at logic.

what i'm saying is that i don't see how anybody else could like these guys. within that statement is an obvious implication that i don't like the band. it's not the other way around.

it still doesn't make me close-minded either way you look at it. i had an open enough mind to listen to them at some point in time (if memory serves me correctly there was some sort of Blood Brothers/Locust interview thing on Buddyhead but I have no idea) but I didn't like them.

Well that "classic" Locust interview on Buddyhead was fake, it was just some fat guy saying obscene things.

Of course you don't like 'em, you don't have to like everything and I respect that because I can't stand 98% of the shit mentioned on this website, but why can't you just let people like what they like without saying that you "can't understand"? I mean, even then, there's far more "annoying" stuff than The Locust.

Listen to the record, you might like it.

And I might've phrased myself weird in the last comment but this is still the exact same thing as "I'm straight so I don't see how anyone can be into men", but if your friend has a boner then well... Someone is probably into men.

It's the other way around. I really dislike them. They are one of the worst things I have ever heard. Consequently, I can't understand how someone would find this noise enjoyable. What's so hard to grasp about that?

I'd just say that you don't get it.

Yeah, Plague is without a doubt my latest record, but check out anything they've done since - They've evolved like crazy. They don't do 40-80 second songs anymore and they incorporate alot more Power Violence in the new stuff.

I actually couldn't get into New Erections at all, but that's probably because they outgrew me, not the opposite.

Its not something I listen to regularly but I thought that New Erections mixed it up more, which help delineate the songs. At times I even believe I could understand a word or two of the lyrics.

i just looked that up. nokia theatre? $25? that's kind of insane. i want to see them, but that seems the worst possible situation (2100 capacity venue) to see them in.

you're talking to a guy that flew out to Austin to see them a couple of years ago - so $25 aint bad. thought it's a lot - especially with service charges. plus they haven't been to NYC in 8 years and I doubt they'll be back anytime soon.

yeah, it's just they're a sweaty small-club band, playing a venue this large seems kind of ridiculous. i'm not sure they're even enough of a draw to fill that place.
