I kinda like Understand this is a Dream back in the day, but after seeing them live, I can't stand them. The singer was wearing leather pants, had a faux hawk and had one of those headset microphones. He just came off like a huge popstar.

I know what I'm implying is completely unfathomable: Some kid on a "punk rock" website is claiming to have seen a band that he never saw and has not only taken an internet rumor as fact but has inserted himself into the story as a witness to such things. I know it's unprecedented, and it's hard for you to understand, but it has happened.

What else was he gonna do during a 2 minute intro. He probably sees that now and realizes he should have stayed off stage. The kung fu kick is pretty rad though.

arguing on the internet is silly. if your favorite bands used headphone mics, you'd still eat the shit up. just because you don't look like a hipster, if you care so much about haircuts and posturing, you're just as much of a sheep, albeit a plaid clothed one. bah.

For me, the pretense and audience-exploitation are just the tip of the iceberg of why this band was cosmically shitty. I say "cosmically" because they love Jesus ALMOST as much as Detar loves himself.

i don't really care about the band, they were always one of "those" bands even back when i was like 15, that people would reference but no one really listened too. still, this sort of pissing contest just is what makes people hate the comments section here. and it bothers me that everyone acts holier than thou about bands that have some sort of image, when "org-core" and almost every punk band besides fugazi is just as image based. if you ask me, at least when it came to the first wave of punk, it was all more about image than music. and that's why i dislike it.

Anyway, reading the above posts about TJT made me laugh. I wrote this in the post about Juliana Theory reuniting for two shows in 2010 and I'll say it again: Emo Game 2.0 got it right when they made Brett Detar a character who is narcissist and has a special move of throwing autographed photos of himself at people. In his twitter account, he seems to think The Juliana Theory had a huge impact on inventing what would become the late 90s/early 2000s emo scene. In reality, they had nowhere as big of a fan base as The Get Up Kids or Jimmy Eat World. When they signed to a major label, they tried to become the next Creed, and they got dropped really quickly.
