The New Pornographers to release “Together” on May 4th

Matador Records has announced that the fifth full length from The New Pornographers, entitled Together, is set for release on May 4th. The album was produced by the band and Phil Palazzolo and recorded in Vancouver, Brooklyn, Woodstock, and Catskill, NY. The album features 9 new songs by A.C. Newman and three by Destroyer's Dan Bejar. The album will feature the group's full line up of Newman and Bejar with John Collins, Neko Case, Kurt Dahle, Kathryn Calder, Todd Fancey and Blaine Thurier along with several guests. The additional musicians include Annie Clark (St. Vincent), Zach Condon (Beirut), Will Sheff (Okkervil River), and the Dap-Kings Horns.

The supergroup has posted over 100 photos of the recording process on their website. The cover art can be found at the MataBlog.

Other than the Dap Kings, those are about the shittiest guest artists this side of Cobra Starship or Kathleen Hanna.

Still, though, fucking stoked. Their last record was their best work, and Ted Leo has given this one two boners up. I've learned to just trust them.

Who gives a fuck about guest artists? It's not like most people can really tell the difference between the dap kings horn section and a group of studio guys playing horns, especially when it's not the main focus of the song.

Your ears are very wrong. Okkervil River is a great band and I think Challenger's was their weakest. It was a great disc, but its got shit on Twin Cinema.

Cobra Starship played at my school a year or two ago and by all accounts is was terrible. On the kinda-sorta-not-really related train of thought, Asher Roth was here a couple months ago. Dude really loves college, I guess.
